Pinched sciatic nerve. Reps for suggestions

Pinched my sciatic nerve on Friday evening and chit fuarking destroyed my body. Couldn't walk under my own power Sat, Sun and Monday. Got some oral steroids and muscle relaxers from the DR but they aren't really doing chit.

Anyone dealt with this before? Got a 6am flight on Thursday but there is absolutely no chance I can make that it if it doesn't improve by then

Get one of these cushions-they are amazing. Always try to sit as straight as you can & put a hot water bottle on your butt & massage your butt & the top of the leg affected as well.

You need to take a lacrosse ball, baseball, or softball, and roll on the pressure points around your hip & groin regions. Look them up. Roll around to find them and when you find them you will know. Roll/sit on them a few times a day and it will go away(SRS)

Right where this guys fingers are. But depending how I turn or move my legs sometimes it sends a shooting pain down either butt cheek and down my leg and other times into my hips

You need a new doctor. Who the fuk prescribes oral steroids for new sciatica? It takes time OP, 4-6 weeks. Take tylenol 1g three times daily and iburpofen/advil for breakthrough pain twice daily. Put an ice pack (or heat) whichever feels better, on your back and don't do any hardcore lifting/motioning movements. Don't just lie down for 4-6 weeks straight, do your normal daily activities but don't overdo it and you (like most young people with new sciatica) will be back to normal within a month. You can also see a physical therapist now for help with strength and mobility training or you can wait to see if things just get better on their own in the next 4-6 weeks as I said.

TLDR; we're all gonna make it boyo

I experienced this recently (three bulging discs). I could hardly walk at first and recovered fully. The doctors told me I would need pain medication for the rest of my life but I fixed myself in two months because I was very proactive and dedicated to my recovery (I've also completely repaired a herniated disc btw which is rarely heard of).

-Go and get scans done because there are innumerable reasons why you're in pain and you need to pinpointexactly
-Work on muscle release, stretching, mobility and spinal decompression. There is endless material on youtube.
-Build core strength doing pilates or yoga. Do a simple routine that only takes 10-15 minutes at first and if you experience any pain, modify exercises or find a different routine. As a general rule, if it hurts, don't do it
-Modify training routine. Do single leg squats and deads and remove any jolting, dangerous movements, including overhead work or anything that compresses your spine.
-Lose weight, any excess baggage will make your recovery more difficult

If you follow this advice, you will absolutely be fine within 3 months. Even if you have a herniated disc, follow this advice and add swimming/walking in a heated pool a few times a week and you will recover.

I had this and nothing worked like ice and stretches or excercise but I had not been taking multi vitamins for a while.

I started back taking multi and fish oil and it went away 3 days later after lasting for 3 months almost.

Could be a clue if you not taking any.

It started getting better but only after 60, I've had it for the last 30 years.

There're better days and worse days. Sleeping at night is the worst.

But I keep running, kicking, and lifting and never quit.

Just be careful, for the cause of it differs from person to person so you should find aGOODdoctor. Some need surgery.

Good luck.

Hello, darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence...

feel for you bro. I was in a car accident and had soft tissue damage in that area and sciatic nerve pain. went through 4-6 weeks of PT. Then probably 3-4 times in the next 2 years went to snap city while lifting and couldn't even move for about 24 hours without horrible pain.

My experience was different than described above it went away pretty fast (within a week, although it lingers for several weeks), but its a full on 10/10 pain at the beginning for 2-3 days and there is no ibuprofen or anything that can help.

I had this before. Honestly it’s going to take time to fix and if you don’t it will keep coming back.

Start with stretching back and hamstrings.

Then try these stretches. You might only get to hold it for a few seconds but you will have to work your way up.

Most likely your abductors are weak.

I use the adductor and abductor machines at the gym and no longer have any issues.

If it's due to disk herniation you're screwed, gotta take care of yourself from now on. Anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen but easy cause they mess your stomach up), steroids that don't make you big, proper posture standing and sitting, certain stretches, acupuncture, chiropractor (could make it worse), avoiding high vertebral impact activities (running), and strengthening core muscles are some therapies that may help with symptoms. Eventually all the jelly inside the disk will be gone and your symptoms may subside, but the empty disk could wear out faster.

Blew out 2 discs lifting heavy 5 years ago. I get sciatica flare ups a couple times a year and mostly aren't bad until this year. I thought the pain was 10/10 when I herniated my discs, but this sciatica flare up was far worse. 6 months later my big toe is partially paralyzed like I can't move it upwards all the way. Doc thinks there's still compression on nerve. Not doing surgery because I'm nearly fully functional, but you've gotta nurse that ****. No real advice other than you have to make conscientious decisions to not make stupid movements, or lift heavy awkwardly. Good luck brah.

A wonder drug
brb haven’t met one vaxcel who doesn’t get defensive or mad when you tell them you didn’t get it.

No “vax” for HIV after 40 years of research. No vax for cancer after 100 years of research. No vax for the common cold and yet a virus mysteriously appears and Within 12 months a “vax” is found by 4 pharma companies all within 1 week and we are mandated to take it ….

Sorry to hear bro. Did the same thing 11 years ago and never been the same.

All I did was rest it for about a month. “Rest” is a weird term because your back heals better with light use. So do some walking cardio. Light stretches. No heavy compounds. Light movement.

I went to the Dr. took an X-ray. Didn’t see anything so idk what’s up with that.

Never went back to the Dr. after.

Lots of good YouTube videos on this.

I agree with the stretching exercises but also go get an MRI. Thought I had a sciatic issue and fought it for months when in turn I needed a discectomy. I had 2 discs pushing on my nerve and causing severe pain. Go get it checked out OP.

Can't see disk herniation on x-rays, you need an MRI done.

Thanks so much for all the helpful advice and suggestions brahs. Really appreciate it and will get every ITT as my reps recharge.

Last night I did some stretching with the help of my gf and it seemed to make a big difference. I'm by no means back to normal but at least I was able to shower and walk without having to constantly support myself on any wall or table i'm next to. Still have a shooting pain every few steps so i'm going to do more stretches and nerve flossing throughout the day. You really take being able to do general every day tasks for granted when you can't do chit alone.

I had 2 months of barely being able to sit. My drive to work was unbearable. No real advice other than physical therapy. Many years later and it still comes back but thankfully the pain doesn’t radiate all the way down like it used to. My squat never recovered and I can’t even go parallel without bending my back. Such is life.
