Dr. Marty Makary of Johns Hopkins says we have reached herd immunity

"He believes we hit herd immunity already because he includes those who have natural immunity with the vaccinated, which comes to approximately 85 percent. Mackary says the U.S. should be sending our unused vaccines overseas to nations that need it more."

Now, obviously this guy is an outlier, because we need this narrative to keep going to keep the power hungry with power, and make the wealthy wealthier, but due to a lot of this pandemic circulating around money and control, and the mans credentials, he shouldn't be written off, because he doesn't agree with the political consensus.

That one lunatic poster here who is a nurse said we're at 50%, which if I am correct, is only accounting for the vaccinated.

So, is the guy from Hopkins right or is the nurse r/p miscer?

Some of the contractors where I am working are sending safety people around to ask for vaccine cards, and if they can't disclose one they need to go back to wearing masks lol.

Hasn't happened to the contractor I am employed with yet, but I suppose it will probably happen when the FDA approves this thing. It's like the mask is the mark of the undesirables.

Now, if someone does not have natural immunity from prior infection, then they should immediately go out and get the vaccine. I'm pro-vaccine. But the issue of the appropriate clinical indication of the vaccine is not an all-or-nothing phenomenon, as we frequently see in American culture and politics.

85% and maybe a few points higher even sounds right now. But with vaccines losing their effectiveness to breakthrough infections, over 90% is needed. Then it becomes endemic, consistently spreading around in low numbers.

Definite truth in there. Right now we're catching maybe 1 in 9-10 infections. Vaccinated people will get infected more, be a mild or asymptomatic case, then gain a stronger immunity. When we consider that will happen in slow motion over years, focusing on herd immunity becomes kind of fruitless. The focus on cases gets dumber and dumber. I'm looking forward to how politicos and school boards react when cases suddenly drop this month in the South's current wave.
