Federal funding of schools teaching critical race theory now banned

Nice win, good to see some people come to their senses, but it was so close it makes me wonder about the sanity of half of the country.

Indoctrinating kids into a racist ideology will result in a ban of federal funding.

Oh, that clears it up.

Like, seriously, think for a second. Is there a checklist of "critical race theory?" Are they going to put together some team to scour schools and make sure nothing evil is taught? Are they going to make one central curriculum for all schools?

This is meaningless political theater. CRT has been hot for a couple days now, and we see this.

They didn't even -attempt- to define the thing they are banning. It's not even in caps. Cotton Tweeted in "Critical Race Theory" in caps so I thought maybe they defined it.

A lot of schools changed the name to something else when people were getting mad, so I doubt this will help, didn't read the article. If I remember correctly it has equity in the title, same thing though.

That's part of the problem, it's not well defined. It seems to be about accusing all white people of being racist all of the time, that we're born racist, that all of the ills of recent history are entirely white peoples' faults, etc etc.

Creates room for lawsuits though. Now they have a lot to lose.

Sounds like a meaningless term to me that's thrown around to get people riled up. Real things require real solutions. Regulating what kids are taught is one of the oldest battles around and something like this doesn't do anything. Remember debates over evolution being taught? Sex ed? That kind of stuff. I can't see how this isn't that if indeed changes need to be made to the curriculum.

Hell, public schools were teaching that in the 90s. Half of grade school was spent learning about whites beating up on indians and slaves. No wonder millennials are so fukced

You're missing the most important legal element, "may".

If not applied consistently, then it will be thrown out in court. It can't possibly be applied consistently without a definition.

It doesn't matter. They will continue teaching this nonsense in schools, believe me.

Not going to matter. There is a reason they have already been pivoting away by saying "it's not really critical race theory! We are just teaching real history!"

At any rate, local school districts will still teach it if they want, and activist courts absolutely will not prosecute. It's over just enjoy the clown show boyos.
