The energy density of Li-ion batteries is pathetic. The technology is pretty much peaked and a full tank of fossil fuel fares better than a half ton battery. The battery degrades with time and takes 10 fkin hours to fully recharge.

The battery itself - the cathodes of Li-ion batteries are made out of cobalt, which is a mineral considered critical - it's both vital and scarce. Most of the world's cobalt comes from the fkin Congo (over 70%) and the price for a ton is more volatile than bitcoin ranging from 25k to 80k EUR in just the last 5 years. Not even going into the lithium mines thing, the cars are basically zero pollution at the point of use only.

Meanwhile ICEs are becoming ever more efficient and eco-friendly. Formula 1 is making strides in sustainable bio and synthetic fuels.

Also who was aviation, trucks, cargo transport, maritime transport, and all that tractor and agricultural diesel chit which is supposed to be replaced by what exactly?

The legislation around Europe is also done by fkin morons with severe cases of wishful thinking and technical illiteracy. Take Norway for example - they plan to ban fossil fuelled cars in less than a decade, yet they recently found a chit load of petrol and have started working on getting their ****gy liberal hands on it. The prices at this point are just unreachable for the average American. The Rivian trucks are going to be 100k optioned out. Even the model 3 is 56k for the top model.

Brb driving 5 hours to Spokane from Western WA. Having to stop half way to find a charging station, wait in like for an hour, then charge for 2 hours just lmao.

5 hour trip turns into an 8 or 9 hour drive.

And thats not even the back country/forest service roads in rural America. Couldn't even go camping anymore because not enough battery.
