What happened to the music??

IN SHORT: The mainstream music today SUCKS. 0 variety. Go back to 2010 style. (Remember that even in 2010, the music from pre 1960-2010 was still replayable)

Like, when I was growing up, at around 2010, I genuinely didn't mind the music on the radio, on MTV and in the charts. Used to go home, switch to the music channel, leave it running and do stuff with my family. Not to mention that I always knew the top 5 songs on the top 10 charts a few times per year like every year from 2009-2013. Fastforward to 2014+, I have no idea about songs, artists, albums, cds or literally anything, totally ignoring the fact that they are all gay as ****. I used to wait in the car when my mum would go shopping and I'd just read the clubland cds/"Now" cds. That was 100% the norm.

I know this might seem heavily biased for myself, and obviously everyone likes different music. But, I mean, look at any music video from 2013+ and compare it to pre 2013. Current music just has this heavily gay unmasculine "copy and paste but gay and worse" aura to it. Definitely ran out of ideas. Literally embarrassed to let those sounds enter my ears aswell. Pre 2013(ish) never had that, considering that at that time, bob the builder and crazy frog was in the top 10, whilst metal and clubland were in the same top 10.

Funnily enough, (1999-2011) music was completely flooded with different stuff, you had average guys listening to death metal and Barbie. Was funny and not a big deal.

I'm not listing a billion different songs, but just go on youtube and look around. Just look at any music video from before 2011 and after 2011, as that usually summaries the culture at the time.
Look at Pre 2013 popstars and current 2015-2021 popstars. Pre 2013 popstars looked badass (like Usher and Britney Spears). 2015-2021 just sound/look gay and pathetic.

But seriously, when I finally grew up, I was kind of disappointed that people across the world are satisfied with the music today. Where as before 2010/11ish, there were songs that people would reminisce about for years to come.

But yeah, the old music style. A ton better than the current trash.

This shift after 2013 particularly annoys me. As mentioned above, music has people hanging out, reminiscing, having epic times. There's no way people would look at the 2021 charts and go "Ohhh remember that time". **** that.

Something definitely changed. Pre 2014 mainstream music was still decent. This is the most popular music now.

Lil Nas X is actually the artist of the generation currently. It was previously The Weeknd but he got stale like Bruno Mars. Nas X actually translates well to autotune and can apparently rap decently. Hate to admit it because the whole homo chit is weird, but most great artists/performers are openly gay

yep agreed 100%

2015 was the last year with a good variety of decent music on the Billboard top 100 [although nothing compares to the music of the 60's to early 90's] and then music fell off a cliff hard after 2015

lotsa good music here and then looking at the same year end chart in years since is nothing in comparison

Yeah, what is even the point. Releasing such music, to then have men actually enjoying this unmasculine trash.

Like, I'm ridiculously open minded when it comes to music. (From pussycat dolls to 50 cent lol, literally everything pre 2011 I swear) But 2014+ music, literally embarrassed even if I'm by myself and I ALWAYS immediately switch the channel or radio station.

Cos mainstream reflects on our pathetic population. A successful song is based on if people like what they hear/see.

Just so happens that people are ridiculously happy to hear/see fragile clowns.

I don't know who that is, assuming some rap guy? (wasn't lying when I said I have no clue about current stuff lol)

I know the others u mentioned, I swear they vanished from the face of the earth. Autotune is retarded full stop?? What are u on about?

I sound anti gay in my other post, but I'm 100% fine to have a conversation with a gay person, not even phased. But music having this fragile aura everywhere is ridiculous/unnecessary. Key word being unnecessary.

Autotune and mumble rap happened. Most disgusting music ever.

Bring me the Horizon and NF are like the only 2 artists I've downloaded albums from in the past few years. Been listening to Nu-metal playlists from the 90s/2000s and fuk the music was so much better.

My dad still listens to Pink Floyd, The Doors and chit every day lol. I never really appreciated the oldies until I watched the Bohemian Rhapsody movie then started listening to other bands. They sure did have some GOAT music back then.

I even remember when Nickelback ruled the charts in the early 2000s. They were on the radio literally non stop. Now it's like people don't even listen to rock anymore. No joke they were literally the most popular band in the world back then.

From the retard social media culture we have today. I don't know how anyone can enjoy the mumble rap/autotune trash. Rap and hip-hop were fukin awesome in the 90s/2000s now it's generally dogchit outside a few artists that don't autotune/mumble (e.g. NF).

Some modern songs slap hard af because the quality and range of the instrumentals have greatly expanded but generally aren't memorable ala don't have good vocals/lyrics.

I mean, 2015 music sucked. However I do remember some subtle(ish) gay music played in the fast and furious where Paul Walker died. Still sad though. (Most crying/upsetness in the cinema crowd since twilight lol)

2013 was the cut off for music. But can kind of see what ur saying.

Hypothesis? I'll check that out thanks!

It is pretty absurd, horrific. I just don't get it, no way would pre 2011 be accepting of that trash. I swear peoples brains aren't even in their heads anymore

Yeah, music back then was epic, sum 41 shirts mass produced then haha!

The music business is all about marketing now. Music is secondary and it's all about how they are promoted.

A majority of music listeners aren't really music fans; they just listen to whatever is available and what they can dance to. Those in the music industry capitalize on this and force their factory-made starlets on everyone. There's a couple dozen music "stars" out there where I can't name a single song of theirs, and I never hear their fans naming any, either.
