Movie Characters Who Had Nothing To Lose?

Who are some film characters whose story was defined because they took risks because they had little to nothing left to lose?

Here are some I can think of

Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver)
Max Cady (Cape Fear)
Arthur Fleck (Joker)
Roy Munson (Kingpin)
Lou Bloom (Nightcrawler)
Frank Castle (The Punisher)
Sonny Wortzik (Dog Day Afternoon)
Randle McMurphy (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest)

Rolling Thunder (1977) is entirely about that.

Is Joker worth the hype? I've never seen it I've been putting it off for a couple yrs now, because I'm just a hipster movie critic I don't want to be disappointed lol.

Yes/10

I thought it could have had a bit more action/things happen, but overall was a solid movie.

Its terrific. There is an interaction between William Devane and Tommy Lee Jones about 2/3 into the film that personifies that "nothing to lose" mentality. I'd post it here, but I don't think it would have the same effect as it would by watching the whole movie.

It’s a really good film, I saw it when it came out in theaters. Definitely worth watching, although with the hype around it, it was always going to be hard to live up to that level hype.

Mickey and Mallory Knox "Natural Born Killers"

Leon "The Professional"
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

In my opinion Cape Fear is Robert De Niro’s best acting performance.

When Michael realizes he is the only one who can get to Sollozo. Its not that he has nothing to lose, he does, but he is giving up all the hopes and dreams for himself in order to keep the one thing most important to him...his family.
