What happened to the internet??

IN SHORT: Internet needs to die out somehow. Pre 2011, the internet wasn't everywhere and didn't engulf us all. Now the internet is far too widespread, there's 0 mystery and it's far too easy to access mind numbing trash 24/7.

Like, when I was child growing up, my parents were extremely strict with internet usage. So our house pc was kept in a viewable room, with a billion types of parental controls. Even in 2008, I'm sure the internet was polluted with trash, however, the main difference was that the "trash" stayed immobilized to our house pc. Which was perfect. When I misbehaved, I would just head to a friends place, but not every household had internet back then and that was the norm. So I ventured out miles away to the library or a cyber cafe. Fast forward to today, everyone has a phone, a 5 or 85 year old probably have a £900 phone at hand, so the internet is accessible EVERYWHERE to EVERYONE. This shift ruined the "mystery" of life and changed it all after 2013.

Our parents are meant to be what we are in the future, but, that was once upon a time. Times have changed a ton. Like, I'm nothing like my mum and dad, but me and my brother are fairly similar. Yeah for sure, environmental factors change a person a lot, even the era and being introverted and weak or being popular at school changes you for life (So I've heard). That's the common theme for now, where the parents are pretty much useless, technology guides all kids born after 1999 for sure. Growing up I had "K9 web protection" on our house pc to stop me accessing internet trash. That's a joke these days. Parents these days only have the choice to install some kind of software on the kid itself to be successful hahaha.

Kind of sucks how the climate of this era changed so much. Use the internet, and your life makes a U turn big time.

All of you miscers back in 2005-2011 probably accessed the internet through the same methods as me. People wherever you went did this aswell. I remember racing home to watch the latest retard video, play some epic online game or download some music. All very basic and had pristine balance to an extent where I wasn't addicted to the internet OUTSIDE. 2013+ took away that "mystique/mystery" of the internet by being able to Google everything in an instant. No more dictionaries, SAT navs, libraries, pamphlets, NON internet related outings and no more brain function. Even to explore the world we live in has been altered.

It's weird, as current culture for people is to introvert awkward talk on their little social media iphones 24/7, use their little iphones when a conversation goes bad, act pretty when they're ugly and really just become completely addicted to their phones. Their/your lives will flash by in an instant if you're using the internet when you're out. (In my mind, 10 minutes is too much, save that for the HOUSE)

But seriously, when I finally grew up, I was pissed that gym people (supposed epitome of people) and whoever are painfully addicted to the internet in a really unmasculine way. ("Scrolling" for 7/8/9+ hours, not using your brain for basic tasks) Where as before 2010/11ish, they were these people, literally living, using their flip phones and savoring their inner nerd for when they return home.

But yeah, 2010, had the perfect balance of everything.

Example pics of the ideal "internet" setup. (In my mind, the internet shouldn't exist at all) (Incidentally there's also a pic of the ultimate hairstyle)

We’re in the Information Age. If anything, the internet will become even more entangled in our lives.

Yeah, I don't know who's bright idea it was to do this to humanity. Even though it's ideal to reel it back into smartphones. I swear, the internet not releasing back in the 90's would've impacted the world in such a good way.

Try, 99.9%. I remember as was at a restaurant earlier this month. Opposite me had some father stuffing his face whilst "scrolling" on his phone, then he dropped his phone on his kids head and the kids head landed in his pasta sauce. Funny, but I really wanted to bash that guy across his head for ignoring his family and how his persistent phone usage was somehow imperative to his family outing. (The rest of the family were also on their little gadgets)

Annoys me to think that there's no way of reversing this, and as the guy above said, it'll probably get worse. ****! !!! !!!

Wasn't like this 10 years ago. This video was made right around the time everyone got addicted to social media and smart phones.

It's near impossible to find people who think like this, because current people are content with it.

This guy left and arrived at the perfect points in time, so he can clearly see the shift, prison guy or not.

Even still, 5 hrs isn't long. For me, the horrific shift in the world bothers me always, however I carry on with regular stuff.

Back then my house was only for sleeping in my bed lol. Was out 17+ hrs on average. (Not always though, summer holidays were always epic back then)

Big names like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are the biggest culprits. Had they not existed, the path of internet probably would've quickly halted or something.

idk... but im pretty sure the internet is largely responsible for the global chit.

like the kumbaya ultra lib lets let everybody mix. the internet allows businesses more easily to communicate, trade, etc.

if you remove the internet u.s. businesses have to rely on purely u.s. chit.. or at least it would be way more difficult not to..

now do they not only not need to cater to the u.s. when other countries can simply buy, etc., etc. but they make more by including them and not excluding them

for instance... google... literally profits off of letters/ words. the more letters posted everywhere, the better.. it doesn't matter what's behind them; the message, the intent, what they stand for, etc., etc. just the fact that they are there is important

Yeah, I get what you're saying. The internet definitely has its uses.
But I'm sure the world would manage fine if the internet somehow disappeared today in 2021. They'd just slowly revert to how things were done in the 90's. Just slightly more advanced.

All this talk about trade and business all existed pre 1990. So yeah it would impact us if the internet was abolished, but we'd be fine as far as the current worldly balance goes. (Ie, businesses and world affairs. (The suckier businesses would die out, but whatever))

Lol, if someone died now, their ********, job applications and whatever still exist. They'd be cloned from the memories in the future haha. (2025+?)

It's more of an eye opener if anything. I swear nobody notices it aswell.

Yeah man, couldn't have described it better. The matrix was a symbol of this kind of topic. How the internet is intertwined into literally anything and everything.

Kind of crazy how 1999 movie captured this.

So because you don’t like the Internet, you think the other 99.9 % of humanity should bend over backwards to conform to your whims?

That’s like a religious nut saying he doesn’t want his kids watching R rated films, so R rated films should be banned.

I’m a comic book artist, and without the Internet, I wouldn’t have any way to make money, some people rely on the networking advantages the Internet offers for their career.

Not what I'm saying. Read again.

Basically saying that internet and everything should revert to 2010. As it had a perfect balance of everything. (In this case, a perfect balance of usage (since technology was limited enough that you couldn't nerd out of your house) and how peoples lives didn't revolve around it)

The internet was extremely popular before then. I became hooked in '97 and every single day since. This forum was at its height 2005-2010.

What you're referring to is the smart phone and mobile internet.

When I become dictator the internet can remain as is for use on laptops and desktops, but phones and mobile devices with internet will be banned except for very limited use.
