Does Free Will Exist?

@TappingTheZen

He argues that will is influenced by causality, stating that the human experience of free will is a by product of particles and physical matter in the universe.

My point is that the human experience holds meaning and value and that free will is intangible and exists beyond the realm of physics and science. A thought is a byproduct of matter and electrical impulses in the brain. However, the thought itself is an inherently intangible thing that a human being can manifest into reality thus affecting the outcome of an action in a positive or negative way as we define it.

No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

No, it does not exist.

The mind does not exist outside of chemical reactions in the brain.

No. We are just a chain of events. Relive your life a million times with everything exactly the same, and you will make the same exact choices.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

But a thought isn’t made up of physical matter, it can’t be quantified.

There’s an increasing amount of studies that show our brains subconsciously choose for us milliseconds before we ‘think’ that ‘we’ made the conscious choice.

There’s more research to be done, but it may turn out that we are mere third person observers of our brain’s actions - and we only ‘think’ we’re in control. If true, it would revolutionize the entire way we look at the world and how it works.

Just think about all of the decisions you’ve taken to get to where you’re at in this moment and consider the possibility that you might have just been an observer of your brain this entire time…

Terrifying shît.

This ignores the fact that life is ultimately mathematical chaos and it is practically impossible to get the same chain of events twice.

You talk as if quantum physics was fully understood at this point. For all we know, its not chaos as much as we just dont understand it yet.

well maybe, but i tend to believe that it isnt random or chaotic, its has an explanation and it follows a path or a set of rules as everything else in life, we just havent figured it out yet.

Havent read on it in a long time tho, dont know if i want to get down that rabbit hole again lol

I voted that I don't know, because I don't know.

For example I want to stop miscing but my body won't let me.

It's probably your brain determining that it 'likes' to misc before your conscious mind actually thinks whether it should continue doing it or not - therefore, you continue miscing.

A lot of the sht we do not like we stop doing but was that really 'our' decision or was it our brain already concluding the choice and us just merely mechanically following through with it?
