I currently live in Portland, OR and as much as I loved this place, its obviously not what it used to be back in the 90's and earlier.

Been looking for a job however, most places are not calling back and hospital settings are requiring the vaccine/mask to even work in their facility.
Some hospitals are giving the choice to test each week however, who knows if they'll pay for it, and if not, not interested in a $50+/weekly test to tell me what I already know.

Anyways, the next step if nothing works and its just looking like I will be at a standstill is to move out of Oregon altogether.

I'd like to ask advice (serious, please) of those that moved states before and what I will need to make it as successful as possible.
My parents came from Romania with nothing in their pockets and if they could do it, I have no reason not to be able as well (especially with a good savings amount).

All help is appreciated - I obviously know I'll need to sort out a place to live and a job before I move, but what other things should I look for.

Hope it doesn't have to come to this and I can move out of Portland at least and further south/east into Oregon, but who knows how bad it will become.

BEFORE anyone suggests a state or place


you need to tell us who you vote for and how you have voted in portland / oregon elections. be honest.

I have only voted for an election once in my life and that was this election for Trump - though I am apolitical, so I don't side with a party, but my ideals are usually more right (but not extreme).

Otherwise, I voted for everything that is the opposite of what is happening in Portland.

Also, here are some things I want to avoid in a potential new location:

- No blue states or blue cities
- No nosy neighbors
- No liberals/democrats
- Suburban area or rural area (at least be close enough to the city if I choose I want to visit)
- No old people
- Food (I enjoy food so it would be nice to have a place with a good selection)
- Nature (big on the outdoors)

Just some things to consider.

Do your research and figure out where you want to move to. Can be more than one place, but not too many. Make sure you consider things like cost of living, availability of jobs in your field, etc.

Once you have a short list, start applying to jobs in those areas. Make sure your resume is good. ALWAYS do a cover letter, and in your cover letter make sure you make it known that you are looking to relocate to that area.
