have you beaten the rate race? (or remain wagecel til death)

Any miscers out there successfully beat the wagecel cubecel life? I'm looking to get some inspiration to do so myself and finally start my own company.

What kind of company did you start?

How risky was it?

Did it work out for you?

What advice you recommend to those wagecels looking to beat the race race?

not really...but work from home at a chill company with 1 or 2 short meetings so only do like 3 hours a day of work. and trade stocks at the same time.

my advice is try and get a work from home job that's chill to finance your entrepreneurial venture

Yea im kind of in that same position. Cupcake job. But even that is getting old. Still have to be somewhere every day on some else's clock. Still bound by the limits created by someone else. Still have to metaphorically blow someone else if you want the carrot on the end of the stick.

i never met a business owner that wasn't all in to their company and I'd rather spend 40hrs a week working for someone else than 50hrs working for nyself and the stress that comes with it

My investment rate of return is on on the cusp of surpassing my annual expenses (after I finish my move out of shthole CA/LA).

Once that happens, I will likely start a business and or deploy capital in other areas of the market for more income streams.

There is absolutely ZERO reason why any self-aware/rational person should even consider having a 'career' in the traditional sense - it is a fcking trap.

I understand the "grass is greener" theory, but for me it's not just about the money.

It's about achieving something I've been wanting to do, and being able to live out my own free will each day. I'm getting to that point where I don't want to be under someone's control anymore, even if its "not that bad" or "pretty easy."

it's becoming mind numbing for me. i have a great job and its easy, but i feel like im losing myself and wasting my life. It's crazy because many would kill for my position. But i think its ultimately killing me.

I have to be that way for now, the only career I could do where I would be able to manage myself and work enough hours to make a good living is fitness coaching. Ill do that when I am ready and not competing myself anymore so I can devote all of my attention to it.

sure, but I still get gym time, I go in at 2pm and get off at 10pm and like I said thats pretty loose, I can show up at 230 and leave at 930 and no one will say anything. I can also run home for an hour because I live 5 minutes from work and technically with my job I just need to be in a vehicle in the vicinity of where I work so even being at home for a small amount of time isnt against any rule.

I also accrue a LOT of vacation and comp time which I can use pretty much at my leisure, right now I have like 300 hours banked just because I only really take off when I have an urge, sometimes ill do a 60 hour spurt where I only work 2 days a week for a couple months.
