what is the best budget phone these days?? (srs)
by budget i mean £300/$410, so not strictly budget, but nothing with a high end price tag.
a good battery life is a must, and also a phone that isn't big

Google Pixel 4a. It's easy to replace the OS with any other option. The boot loader isn't locked, like everything else being sold.
Even if you don't replace the OS, it isn't full of dum chit other manufactures put in there. Google has also said that they will continue to provide updates for the next ~2 years.

I really like my LG-V20. Find me a more feature rich phone in hardware, you phucking can't. It's probably also like 200$ too.
I took mine to a repair shop this week actually so it serves me for more years.

Not a big smartphone, and the casing is plastic to cut down on manufacturing costs. Does everything you need a smartphone to do unless you're a mobile gamer. Takes amazing pictures too
