Inflation Sucks. B of A: Highest Possible Transitory; Highest On Record Persistent

I know some miscers browse zerohedge. I did back around 07-08. Just recently peeked in there again.

Fast-forward to today when the latest BofA reading of both transitory and persistent inflation meters, showed what everyone already knew: both series hit record highs, with Transitory inflation at the highest possible reading of 100, while the sticky "Persistent" inflation rose from 75 to 90, which while also the highest on record, still has some more upside to go.
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/on...ew-record-high

What has really caught my personal attention is grocery prices. Just this week went to get a can of corn and saw it priced at $1.79. Just a regular can of corn. Yesterday I went to get a bag of egg noodles...$2.99. It seems like a lot of very ordinary grocery staples have jumped in price by up to 1/3rd in a short time.
According to Bloomberg, some of the largest U.S. food distributors are "reporting difficulties in fulfilling orders as a lack of workers weighs on the supply chain." Take distribution giant Sysco, North America’s largest wholesale food distributor, which is turning away customers in some areas where demand is exceeding capacity.

Worse, food inflation is about to soar: the company said prices for key goods such as chicken, pork and paper products for takeout packaging are climbing amid tight supplies. In particular, production has slowed for high-demand, labor-intensive cuts like bacon, ribs, wings and tenders, Sysco said. And if intermediate and final wholesale prices are "rising", just wait until they emerge on the consumer side.

Seems like something has to give.

printing trillions of dollars has consequences
as does paying people to sit on their ass
and importing brown ppl for votes and paying them to sit on their ass
as does paying low iq ppl to reproduce for decades
as does squeezing your middle class dry every chance you get, to the point they are literally disappearing
while moving production to other countries

But Biden and the left says workers are waiting for ‘the right job’

All this while Jerome Powell monetizes all the US debt and all government programs.

Something WILL give.

I don't believe the way inflation is tracked is efficient. Comparing prices to a basket of goods leaves gaps in the model.

For instance "shrinkflation" is real. Companies simply reduce the amount you recieve without changing much else (bag of chips 1/4 full). Also how much more effective has the company gotten in production? Has inflation eaten away at the gains we should all be benefitting from?

I am behind the curve a bit when it comes to this topic. I came across this awhile ago.

https://1729.com/inflation/

I was going to enter, mostly because I wanted to dive deep into this world of fiat ****ery, but I didn't have time. I'm interested to see how the winner solved the technical problems and what the data will tell us / how it compares to official sources.

This is all thanks to the spineless branch covidian doomer fukers.

Literally ruined the economy and gave politicians an excuse to print trillions.

If people wouldve looked at data, had common sense, and said "fuk your covid" bullchit, we couldve been back to normal in may 2020.

Literally nothing has changed data wise, back then we knew it was fat and old people getting sick

In the US it is known that the government fiddles around with what they measure to keep the official inflation number lower than it would probably be if reported honestly.

Added a graph to the first post- that vertical though.

It will be followed by a bubble bursting and a yuuge chitload of deflation.

Then the fed will come in and say we need to inject the economy with 5 times the amount of cash than what the entire economy is worth.

Everyone I know has complained about inflation at grocery stores. Hope Biden doesn't spend even more money making inflation worse.

Saw Procter and Gamble plans to raise prices on their products next month.

Pretty much....the Fed is never going to really taper...it's all a fcking illusion.

This explains why the market is still grinding out new record highs - they're calling Jpow's bluff and pricing it all in.

This sht will get 10000% more autistic before it blows up........anyone still hoarding cash is a fcking idiot.

It can extend way beyond that as well, right down to qualify of ingredients used. Call me crazy but I noticed a decline in the quality of many processed goods a while after COVID hit, and I'd expect that if companies are trying to deliver products while maintaining profit margins despite additional costs from COVID stuff.

We can look at this on the service side too where we're dealing with reduced quality of service and other burdens without a corresponding price decrease -- inflation has been happening for a while, just in those less transparent forms

I'm interested to see what the tipping point is. Hyperinflation is very psychological; what will be the last push for individuals to realize they're holding worthless paper?

Sigh...

Also looks like I was pretty close on my guess that prices have increased by a third.
Whether at supermarkets, corner stores, or open-air markets, prices for food have been surging in much of the world, forcing families to make tough decisions about their diets. Meat is often the first to go, ceding space to less expensive proteins such as dairy, eggs, or beans. In some households, a glass of milk has become a luxury reserved only for children; fresh fruit, once deemed a necessity, is now a treat.

Food prices in July were up 31% from the same month last year, according to an index compiled by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization.

I noticed this with things like canned soup and frozen dinners; less "stuff" in the soup and smaller portions with less meat in the frozen dinners. I think that the already small meat portion decreased by a third to half and some varieties were discontinued. At the same time a lot more meatless entrees were added to product lines.

Um, yeah, sure. My post somehow warped space and time and caused food prices to increase between June 2020 and June 2021.
