When we use AI today we set it to do something useful and non-malicious (like learn to play Dota2 by simulating billions of games and learning each time from outcomes and consequences over many iterations.

The threat is some bad organization (like china or Middle East) getting their hands on an advanced system and then running the Ai to evil intents like programming it to find nefarious outcomes or "evil goals" and succeeding in developing that.
