Kinda bored with life, wanna go to southeast Asia for 4-6 months (srs)

Ive been thinking about it for years but never pulled the trigger cause of obligations and relations. Now would be the best time to go for me, so Id like to leave soon ish.
I would travel alone and the goal would be to explore , discover epic places and report back in a vlog. Ultimately Id like to do vietnam, thailand, laos, indonesia , phillipines, cambodia
Anyone did that already? Id like to get advices and protips
The show must go on

I held myself back for years because of "relations" and "obligations". It was an excuse. I was, and you are, copping out on something you want to do.

Just do it brah. Save money like a madman for 6 months, quit your job, sell your chit, and buy a plane ticket.

Even if you fail completely and return home in desolation, I am 100% sure you will not regret it.

You'll have very good luck with the ladies in the philippines. They love white dudes.

I spent a lot of time in Davao, but obviously with my wife. My wife didn't like all of the women ogling over me there lol.

Learn to ride a motorbike before you go. Bring your license (some places care, some give zero fuks) and rent a bike to travel around the country on. Make sure you get legit insurance and make sure you check motorcycle accidents are covered, a lot of companies will exclude it and then so many people end up fukd with huge hospital bills.

Most fun way to explore by far
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

I've been to Thailand and Bali, go for it OP. Although it might suck now because of COVID. I'd even be nervous to go as you may get stuck there if a lockdown happens and they stop international travel.

My only advice would be, stay in hotels or AirBNB apartments, I used TripAdvisor to find places to stay. Always keep any cash you have in a safe inside the place you're staying. Only keep like $100-$200 in your wallet. Don't get drunk, most of the bad stories happen to kunts who get wasted. Try to only drink from bottles if you can help it and use bottled water to wash your hands and brush your teeth, avoid ice in drinks.

Understand that as a white guy in SEA you are a walking $$$. People will treat you nice because they want your money (I mean this is applicable everywhere but especially in SEA).

If you're doing adventure tours try to only do it either with companies with a high rating on TripAdvisor or recommended by the hotel. Shady kunts have scams such as the jet ski scam, where they'll get you to sign a waiver before you go on which says you pay for the jet ski if it gets damaged, then they will show you a damaged jetski once you're done and force you to pay for it. You have very little rights in those countries because theres lots of corrupt cops in on the scam.

Oh and get travel insurance in case something happens, the hospital will call your insurance agency and it'll be covered otherwise you can get in serious trouble if you have a huge hospital bill with no way to pay it.

Nothing bad ever happened to me because I was cautious but I still had a great time.

why do you want to travel to the trashiest Asian countries? I've been to Thailand, Japan, and Singapore, and Thailand is disgusting. But if you're just trying to bust a nut plenty of "girls" are there to help you out

I would add Myanmar/Burma to that list of countries - Yangon, Mandalay, rent an electric scooter and spend a day or two riding around Bagan. The temples in the ancient capital are fun to explore and head to one of the spots on the map for the sunset. I didn't (which I regret) get a sunrise hot air balloon but it looks amazing. The wealth divide in Yangon is crazy, one side of the street is westernised shopping malls and the other is slums. Make sure you ride the train for kicks around Yangon, eat some Mohinga in Mandalay, and try chewing some betel nut from some street vendors (gives you mouth cancer so dont chew a lot), you will realise why the ground is covered in red marks.

If youre heading to Laos you can fly into Luang Prabang, organise a bus down to Vang Vieng and onto Vientiane (or reverse that order). Touristy things might not be as enjoyable due to covid (tubing) but check out the nightmarkets. The vendors explain they use metal from unexploded/exploded bombs that USA dropped on the country way back when which is pretty cool. Make sure you rent a bike in Luang Prabang and ride to Kuang Si falls and surrounds.

Miscer above is correct in saying there isnt much to do in Phnom Penh but the Choeung Ek killing fields is worth a visit if you do go. Rode scooters there with my friend in the evening and it was obviously closed, but some security guard let us in and he walked us around the complex. The vibe was so much more eerie and sombre at night time in the dark. Gave him some money afterwards - tipping (aka bribing) people in SEA is worthwhile to see if they can bend the rules a bit for you in your favour, and because of the favourable exchange it costs you next to nothing sometimes. Taking a bus to Sihanoukville (not much to do apart gambling in Chinese casinos) and a ferry to Koh Rong is also good, was getting a bit touristy last time I went but staying a couple nights on the island is quite relaxing.

Honestly Manila is a rubbish place, traffic is insane and not much to do. Go to Cebu to swim with whale sharks, Bohol Island (you can easily rent a car and drive around the island), and most definitely go to Palawan. Just book a van and head straight up to El Nido, number one most picturesque beachside places Ive ever been to and was not a tourist trap (at least when I went in 2018). Would definitely go again. I think I did tours A and C or A and D. Cave tour in Puerto Princesa is also pretty cool. No need to go Boracay after El Nido unless you just want to tick it off as Boracay is tourist filled and groce.

I could go on and on about SEA. Make sure you carry a few hundred in USD even if thats not your home currency as some immigration visas (if you buy on arrival) only request USD or other select currencies. Almost got stuck a couple times as I only had kangaroo dollars.

If you plan to get wet then wear a hat - cannot stress this enough. Also if youre so inclined be very wary with any substances anywhere in SEA, def not off any people advertising on the street. The only places which are more 'safe' I'd say are the restaurants in Cambodia or Vang Vieng where they give you menus for opium etc even then be careful. Regardless, theres so much to see and do you will forget all about the trappings of life at home. Any people who talk down on other countries for their lower socioeconomic levels or think its all just a meat market obviously dont understand the true value of travelling to foreign places, being exposed to different cultures, widening your experiences, and above all appreciation for life.

Don't listen to this. Head to the nearest redlight district like a true foreigner. Once you have a "rent-a-girlfriend" then do touristy stuff.
