Losing Weight While on Meds that encourage weight gain
I was always skinny but have been on Nardil for over a year now. Was also on low dose Seroquel (purely for sleep) but I stopped the Seroquel weeks ago (it was hell - didn't sleep more than 1-2 hours a night if I was lucky for weeks).
Have put on a tonne of weight since starting Nardil. I'm 6ft 1 and was 76kg before starting Nardil. Am now a humiliating 105kg (and it's fat not muscle). I hate being fat.
I also feel that the Nardil, which worked like magic at first, isn't doing anything for mood now - just making me numb. It's a hard med to come off though.
Would just really appreciate advice from any of you guys that have managed to lose weight while on a med that makes you typically gain weight. I'm prepared to put in whatever work, exercise and diet that is needed. I know thermodynamics applies so it's calories in v calories out but some meds do just make it harder.
The other thing with Nardil is that insomnia is severe so often I'm up most of the night but after my experiences with Seroquel I just don't want to start taking sleeping meds (Trazodone is out and I don't want to take benzos or Z-drugs).
Any experiences from people that have been in this situation and managed to lose weight would be appreciated and I'll give my measly reps.
By the way I was always a runner although I'm too heavy to manage anything but a pathetic fast walk/jog now. Gyms are closed here but I have apparatus for doing pull ups, chin ups, dips, etc. No weights but right now body weight seems enough.
Edit: I could add a photo of where I'm at but I'm too disgusted.
