Hurricane Ida

Holy ****... The town I grew up in is under water. The overwhelming majority of southeast Louisiana is without power, trees laying on the ground EVERYWHERE, trees in an insane number of peoples' homes, lines for gas are stupid long, curfews, looting, and power restoration could take longer than a month in the harder hit areas.

Craziest, most devastating hurricane Louisiana has experienced.

First confirmed death was someone that had a tree fall on them. This **** is ****ing nuts.

Loved hurricanes as a kid/teen/young adult, but holy **** they suck when you have your own place.

You won't see it on the news because Biden is President.

The levys(sp?) held up, but the hurricane itself is worse than Katrina, yes. It ties with the worst Hurricane ever recorded and is a category above Katrina. Thank god the levys held or we would be down a State.

The levees held up but they had overtopping (water so high it went over them) in some places.

The damage is un****ingreal. There was a big transmission tower that fell into the Mississippi River.

What part of LA are you in?

Forgot to add the humidity is ****ing AIDS and the phone internet is slow as ****.

Two people died and several people were severely injured by a washout in a county to my southeast in Mississippi. I had a ton of rain at my house. A few trees were knocked down too and we were at least 90 miles away from the eye.

And it was much, much weaker when it got to MS. Yall good, though? Family and friends okay?

We got 110mph sustained winds when it got to us. We were lucky, though. The initial path projection had us 5 miles to the east of it, but we ended up being 7 miles to the west. Missed being in the eye by 2 miles.

A buddy of mine had the eye pass over him. 6 inches of water in his house and to get there he has to walk down the street, because his truck would get ****ed if he tried driving to the house.

Another buddy had a tree fall on and break through his house, another had a tree fall on his wife's car, my mom will be without power for a LONG time.

We fared pretty well, considering all things. We got over seven inches at my house but I live in a subdivision and flooding isn't too much of a problem.

Depends on where you are. In Central and South MS it wasn't nearly as bad a Katrina. Where I am now was without power for weeks during Katrina and my power never went out this time. Just got a bunch of rain with Ida

I wish I could get news on this. Must be bad if CNN is protecting Joe.

The majority of people effected live at sea levels comparable to NYC, Houston, Miami or any other coastal city. No one ever makes these types of comments when a tornado hits somewhere in Kansas or Oklahoma

Eh, its why they make insurance and cars, so you can drive somewhere else and then make an insurance claim when you get back.
