Spin Off: Pfizer COVID Antiviral
Thought that some miscers might want to know a little more about it. From the other thread:
He does talk about ivermectin at one point and holds to the standard that there isn't enough proof yet, but says that he sees no reason not to try it if you can get it prescribed by a physician. Also said that HCQ just plain didn't work though they thought that it could based on bench data IIRC. Racaniello was clear about antivirals needing to be administered at the very onset of symptoms; specifically said when you get a sore throat and first test positive, in order to be effective and that antivirals at the point of severe illness/hospitalization won't do much.
Re: the antiviral pill it sounds like this antiviral was actually developed 5 years ago, but there was no market for it and so no financial reason to complete a full trial for FDA approval.
Hopefully this begins at about 1:11 which is where Racaniello mentions the development of this antiviral drug which was created in response to SARS 1:

Big Pharma has seen a window open in that they can short cut the normal approvals due to COVID and and are milking the hell out of it while it is still open.
