Everyone that has recovered from COVID try this...

Take a shot of vodka (or any other hard liquor) but don't swallow it quickly...let it kinda make its way down and try to pick out the flavor profile/nuances.

Can you detect anything? I literallty only taste burning water....and it's been a month since I recovered from a very mild case.

I can smell and taste sweet/sour/salt/bitter/umami, but I can't for the life of me detect the actual alcohol taste/nuance anymore.

My lungs feel sore which is a feeling I’ve never had before everything else has been fine. Get headaches every once in awhile.

Diagnosed 6 days ago feels like it’s getting better slowly

Nice......I'll try that.

For some reason starchy food is also really hard to detect...like potatoes, corn, etc.

Tried a SMALL sip of whiskey while my taste buds were jacked. Can confirm, tasted like straight water that burned the throat.

Crazy.

Am on oral steroid now so no booze for at least another week.

I have somewhere around 30% taste right now if that, i honestly dont even know anymore if im just sensing or tasting. At first I clearly only sensed sweet, sour, salty, everything else was tasteless and senseless. Now I can sense differences in food but not distinct taste at all.

Damn boyo 5 months is a long time…..for now I’ll enjoy not having to chase vodka I guess……even warm vodka tastes like burning water…nothing else.

The nostril/smell/taste connection seems to be re-established….I’ve noticed it’s the mouth/nose/taste connection that’s completely short circuited….if that makes any sense.

Try something you normally hate, like black licorice (for most people), and tell us what it tastes like with COVID.

I'd say I'm 70% yeah. I don't have the misfires where something tastes SUPER salty/sweet/whatever even tho I know it isnt anymore.

Bold flavors are usually pretty good. Going to try Indian soon

Just getting over Covid, didn't mess with my sense of taste at all.

Or maybe regarding alcohol, I haven't drank yet since so I don't know.

Weird thing is I don't have much of an appetite and have to force myself to eat like normal.

I had almost no appetite thru the worst of it. Got a bunch of those Boost granny shakes to try and keep the cals going in, they helped a lot.
