What’s your go-to post binge recovery strategy?

What do you do personally to undo a massive unplanned calorie surplus?

Take the hit, start again tomorrow?
Fast the next day or 2?
Increase daily calorie deficit for a while to make up the difference?

Any other options.

Was keeping my calories incredibly tight. 46 days in... 17lbs lost and then boom.... completely lost control over the last 2 days. Trying not to beat myself up to much over it but also don’t want to start my usual downwards spiral after a few rough days.

Fuk, so disappointed in myself.

to be completely honest a couple of days spent indulging really isnt enough to throw you too far off track if you actually have been meticulous with your diet for the 6 weeks prior

i'd say just be happy for the cal surplus and brief break in diet and get back on the grind which clearly has given you results

Congratulations for the 17 lbs lost. You probably gained 1 pound back at the most after water weight and all that crap, so just keep doing what you were doing before. You can get away with dropping calories even lower for a day or two but dont try to starve yourself back to where you were.

In my experience, whatever time i have of binging demon mode, i need double that time to undo the mistake. So if i binge all weekend like a madman, after getting back to 100% discipline mode, by friday im back to where i was before. These binges are a sign tho, so better find ways to prevent the next binge more than finding ways of undoing the last one.

I had like 20k cals on saturday-sunday lol, two large dominos pizzas on sunday on top of random 3k+ calories from other crap. Yesterday i ate 1200 cals and hit legs like a maniac. Today im planning on eating 1500-2000 cals and then just start slowly building back up to maintenance. Dont feel bad, it happens to the best of us. The problem is letting it get to you and saying fuk everything, as far as you are concerned you are still 15-16 pounds ahead.

Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Pretty much this. Don't beat yourself up and get back to it.

Thanks mane, I hope you are right. My issue tends to be that I let thinks spiral, 2 bad days becomes 3... then a week. Trying to get rid of that mentality and stay accountable but I will also then be punishing myself for weeks to mitigate an over 13k+ calorie surplus.....

Back on it tomorrow. But all my motivation has left me now.

I just get back on track the following day. Trying to do something drastic like fasting or extreme calorie restriction is a recipe for disaster. Not worth the stress.

Chances are you didn’t gain much weight, if the scale shot up it’s mostly water.

Fast the next day, do a comprehensive glycogen depletion workout - then eat a light meal...calorie deficit/workout every day thereafter.

I wouldn't overthink it too much as long as it isn't a regular thing. think of it as a reward for losing all that weight.

you can choose to make it up over the next days if you want, but don't kill yourself to do it. I usually allow myself a day every 2 weeks where I eat more than I usually would (it wouldn't be that much though, maybe like 600-800 calories over I normally would)
