MMA has to be the most brutal sport to be fan of

Your faves, heroes, even just guys you respected if you didn't like

you eventually watch them be brutalized and thrown on the heap for some hot new thing
and it's happening faster and faster. Guys you think could beat any human in the world become cans for rising stars to practice on

sad man

Experience is a good teacher, not a kind one.

Agreed.

A lot of fighters have brutal declines with injuries, vicious KOs, or become shadows of their former self who fight because they still need money. It's an unforgiving sport in a lot of ways

If you look at a lot of the top stars from the 2000s, they far stayed past their welcome and should've retired earlier than they did. Declining skills are a part of it, but the training that up and comers were doing was far past what the old guard had learned.

Trust me I didn't like Matt Hughes

I hope he will fight again. He will never be the GOAT in MMA without more longevity and fights against tough opponents.

One minute you’re on top of the world and the hottest thing in the business but after 2-3 losses you’re a nobody

Look at Dominick Reyes

Also after fighting most of these guys have no other skills

My old boss said his GF worked at a facility with a lot of ex fighters and they already had dementia and **** (srs)

I tell you who is headed down that road

Donald Cerrone
and I don't like the guy from what ex teammates say he's a huge piece of chit

But the way he's gonna get used up and thrown away is depressing

Yeah, then Hughes got hit by a train which didn't help anything. The fact he raced across train tracks trying to beat a train shows his decision-making may have already been impacted from brain damage.

What's happened to Conor McGregor and Chris Weidman has been depressing for me to watch as someone who watched them become champions in the UFC. Both on big losing streaks, both having been KOed, both literally snapping their shins in half mid-fight this year, and both still delusionally talking like they're still on top of the UFC (Srs).

Weidman and McGregor need to wake the fuk up and retire asap. Their glory days in the UFC are gone and they're only going to get damaged further.

It's honestly sad af. Stuff like that makes the sport hard to keep watching even though fights are still entertaining.

Stephan Bonnar?

I remember when he took steroids at 205 against the Spider Silva and got absolutely molested.

In MMA it's right there in brutal fashion.

I enjoy the UFC. IDK about particular fighters and I think that helps.

It's like a modern day gladiator battle. As raw as you can get entertainment wise. Humans enjoy that **** for whatever reason too. In roman times the gladiator battles were a huge draw, the event was like a giant carnival. Even in fairly recent times (<300 years) people would travel for days, camp out and buy tickets to see people be executed. I think a PPV event of a live execution of a guy like a 9/11 terrorist, church shooter or Boston bomber would see record ratings.

If they signed up to fight to the death, I'd agree but it's not. Fighters have to live with all the fuked up chit that happens over multiple fights. Which could be worse in some situations but not all

MMA's even worse in terms of injuries

Weidman still thinks he has a chance to be champ again

Weidman said his leg almost had to get amputated, then in the same breath was talking about his comeback and fighting for the title again lol. It's insane

Cerrone I think will be alright somehow. He gave up early in almost all of his toughest fights, so he didn't take as much damage as he could have. The worst asswhooping I recall him taking was from Nate Diaz

boxing got a lot of guys who still competed late in their careers with brain damage and slurred speech. its really sad to see the slurred speech.

those retards in the florida commission just sanctioned 58 year old holyfield to fight in a real match, he has had slurred speech for like 20 years.

boxing got some freak accidents too. 3 of floyd mayweathers opponents are already dead.

It was a clean break, why would they have to amputate? Injuries like that happen in sports quite a bit.

It is pretty obvious Bonnar is a hardcore drug addict & that is why they didn't give him what he wanted-because he is abusing prescription drugs. Douchebag was drunk driving a few years back & then tied himself into the car when the cops arrived. If you are banged up then doing pro wrestling is the worst thing as the bumps-especially top rope moves onto hard mats destroy your body.

The break itself would've been fine if he didn't put all of his weight on it after it snapped in half. It could easily have had nerve damage and irreparable damage because of that imo. He mentioned the fear of amputation in an interview.

I'm not sure where he's at in the recovery process currently, he might be posting about it on social media though
