The only thing worse than dying young is slowly dying alone

Can you imagine being on your own in a single little room barely being able to move at 70+ with no wife or kids to support and love you? Would rather get robbed at gun point in my late 60s and hopfully get shot in the head to die a painless death.

You have to learn to enjoy being alone.

Or earn enough money to hire a hot personal nurse.

Or find a companion. Probably a widow or divorced grandma.

Many ways to solve this problem, not just thru marriage.

I consider myself extremely lucky that I am genuinely 110% content with being alone. I can’t remember the last time in my life I felt lonely. I do great in social settings and people think I’m an extrovert. I could have a countless number of friends if I wanted but I just don’t.

It’s why I’ve always had the leverage in all my relationships because I cared less than the girls and had a level of indifference that kept them on their toes. The only time I failed massively was when I chased this one sloot and cared about her more than she cared about me. That’s the only time I lost out big time. Never again.

Boredom means a lack of inner resources of the brain. Luckily my legitimate lifelong case of ADHD has been a blessing in this aspect.

Just commit a non-violent crime and get to sent to jail for a stretch. At least you won't be alone. I'm sure one of the inmates will take you under their wing and look after you. I mean, you might have to return the favour, but at least you won't be alone, per say.

I would say what your old age is like, is largely up to the individual. If you sit alone in a room all depressed about how you have no family left and no reason to go on living, then yes, it will suck and just seem like suffering. However if you can still find purpose and SOMETHING to occupy you well into your senior years, then it need not be that painful.

I want to go out before I lose my marbles though. Senile dementia is no joke and I don't want to live in that state of perma-confusion. My Grandmother basically died over the course of 2 years or so, both mentally and physically. She just shut down part by part. I at least want my death to just be over, and go out "when it's time".
Cook the man some eggs!

You're almost right OP...the only thing worse than dying alone is is having people in your life yet you feel alone when you die.

Nah.

Living a long time after being maimed, losing function when you excelled at something.

Ex. Losing all your fingers after being a top tier piano player, losing legs after qualifying for olympics

I fear that's actually the fate for most men and definitely most miscers.....

My dad actually had a friend whose own son swindled him out of his last $7,000 and then left him to die alone in a hospice last year during lockdown.... what an absolutely tragic fate....
Everything I post is satire.

The idea that your happiness is dependent on a partner/spouse and/or kids is pretty lame tbh. It's one thing if it's your dream to be a parent and raise kids, which I think a lot of people do genuinely have that dream, their own Jr. as a protege to watch flourish and grow into their own life. I know some folks who have had that dream since they themselves were kids.

But for those who are like me, and never wanted kids during my childhood, teens, and entering adulthood, the view on partner and children is very different. It's not an essential part of the key to my happiness. And because of that, it's fair to view the concept as though it's a crutch in life, to feel like youhaveto have those things, as a means to save yourself in your miserable existence. Is your own life, friends/family, hobbies, passions, so unfulfilling that you need to sign a paper with a significant other and impregnate them? A last ditch effort to save yourself? You can't predict how life will go. Imagine potential divorce and loss of half of your things, or the splitting (or entire loss) of custody of your kids. Imagine the death of a spouse, and no one likes to even conceive the idea, but imagine the loss of a child due to unexpected illness or something. Those things might have higher maximum potential sadness, than would've been possible from the maximum potential happiness. I'm not saying to live a life without risks, but it goes to show that you can't definitively tell people that "it's always better to have wife and kids" when you can't predict how it'll play out for them.

The old saying "it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all" is BS to me. Loss is torture. People have committed suicide over it, or killed others over it.
