Heading to England/London next week. Where the UK brahs at

Hey brahs. Next week I have to fly over to England for a work. I decided to extend my trip for another 5 days to explore England and 2 of those days will be in London. I keep getting recommended Cornwall, North Yorkshire, and Cambridge as other places I should visit but any UK brahs want to chime in and give recommendations?Also for London. Is a car also needed like it is in the US? Would be down for a meet too srs

London is obv good, was down there last week for work. Besides all the tourist chit like the London Eye you should also visit a rooftop bar.



Edinburgh (where I live) is pretty sick but takes 5 hrs to get there from London as it's in Scotland. Good if you like Harry Potter/traditional cities tho. Scotland in general has 10/10 countryside as well like mountains etc.



Cornwall, North Yorkshire, and Cambridge are all good although Cornwall is on the west side of the country and North Yorkshire is again a long train journey from London.

I'm from close to Manchester which is a solid city, if you like music I'd recommend it (Oasis etc. are all from there).

Not British but lived there for a number of years.

Cornwall & Devon are beautiful but the weather might be chit this time of year. Not sure it's worth visiting in that scenario.

You definitely don't need a car in London, the public transport is excellent in the central areas. Head out towards Shoreditch in the East End for the young crowd in their 20s & 30s. Brixton is cool nowadays too far pubs/bars. Covent Garden for restaurants & of course Oxford Street for shopping. There's also a massive mall on both sides of London called Westfield, if you do go, go to the one in White City, the one in Stratford isn't bad but it's full of teenage dingers.

York is good if you're into history but it is probably about half a day travel to get there by train.

Plenty of sl00ts in the UK but I wasn't really impressed, not really diverse imo. All types of Europeans in London but not that many Latinas or Asians (East Asians not pajeets).

i know Cambridge very well, dont recommend it at all these days, very crowded and really not much to see or do beyond punting..

Cornwall and Yorkshire are a long way and a very expensive train ride. wouldnt bother as you only have 5 days, id stay in London you wont see a fraction of it in that time.

In no particular order you should see:

Westminster, Putney, Royal Albert Hall, Highgate cemetery, Camden market, a Premier league game, British and V and A museums, anything on at the O2, Shoreditch, any race meeting close to London, the Strand, the city itself St Pauls, Threadneedle etc, Ripper tour, Kings Road, Horseguards, Greenwich Imperial War museum, and a few hundred other things..

As a brummie, I would agree with this guy. Whilst Birmingham does have nice parts and some great architecture in the city centre, it is not somewhere where you should bother with if you are only in UK for a limited time.

Bath is worth a visit. I will be there next week for a few days. Edinburgh is great, but travelling from London will eat up pretty much a day of travel, so not sure if worth it. There is also Canterbury if you want some ancient culture and learning. If you are into walking there is the South Downs National Park. It depends on how far North you want to travel. Liverpool is a great city to visit, but again quite a travel from London as it is NW. You could just stay in the South the whole time as there is more than enough to keep you busy for your stay.

Cornwall is mostly crap but St Ives is awesome. Whilst I said do t go up north York is pretty fantastic.

yes, cambridge is one of the most boring places in england unless you're overly interested in the university. manchester is the best place north of london by a mile.

if i were you I'd probably just stay in london for most of the time and then take a short trip south to Brighton for a day or 2 providing weather is decent.

As for London

- Soho is funish but hella touristy. I prefer shoreditch which is kinda hipstery/try-hardey but it IS enjoyable.
- Stay out of Chelsea/Kensington unless you know someone there. If you don't know anyone there you likely don't have the money, connections, status to find that area enjoyable.
- Clapham Common Station has a quarter mile of pubs and bars that I found enjoyable. A little more for "common folk" and less touristy/posh.
- Don't need a car, just load up an Oyster Card and be on your way with the london tube. it can get you virtually everywhere.
- The prime years of this working are WAY behind, but still might be worth a shot at downloading Tinder paying for the "Gold" upgrade and pre-recruiting chicks in the area before you get there. I did this all over europe for like 5 years and basically had a full stable of chicks to go out with, fuk, and show me around before i even showed up to the city.

I'll never forget the mindfuk of living in Paris, and taking the eurostar from Gare Du Nord to St Pancras. It's like stepping into another dimension. Gare du Nord and it's surrounding area (apart from being ghetto) has this really gothic, dark, parisian snob energy around it. Then you pop up in St Pancras, and it's this jolt of energy, light, and just genuinely upbeat and positive.
