How the fuk is Ted Lasso so popular

It won 4 Emmys today, it has an 8.8 rating on imdb but it is by far the cringiest show that I've watched

I don't see the artistic appeal but I've heard it described as a light non-political wholesome comedy. I think we live in an era where most of our mass entertainment is heavily infused with some larger exhaustingly ideological messaging, and it's been a breath of fresh air.

just looked up the cast. i see it has 3 minorities out of top 12 actors. can it even win awards with this few minorities? srs

It's a good show brah. It's a lot lighter than a lot of shows on TV but that can be nice. I kinda got burned out on all the grim antiheroes after Sopranos, Breaking Bad etc and their millions of clones. One of my top 5 shows of all time is Friday Night Lights and that's a pretty wholesome, "normal" show.

Plus Season One dropped in 2020 so I think a lot of people wanted the positivity.

From what I've heard peripherally, it's a "feel good" show that isn't drenched in the snark and irony of the ****git meme generation.

People are starved for sincerity and genuine expression.They're sick of everything being an inside joke or sarcastic remark. Everyone is so god damn afraid to be real they just speak in memes and retarded sounding slang like "It do be like that." They can't even break character and showcase the slightest bit of humility or humanity. Ted Lasso,from what I've heard, embraces sincere human emotion, and again...people are starved for that.

Been meaning to watch it for this very reason.

My girl and I went through the first season of it and were impressed with how it never made us think of clown world once, its just a guy trying to be positive and simple.

One of the best shows I've seen in 10-20 years. No joke.

For all the reasons listed above. Its a light, feel good comedy. Super easy watching.

Not as epic or deep as sopranos, breaking bad, etc but def isn't meant to be. It is honestly a great relaxing experience.

first season was really good imo, second season (now running) is a whole lot less unfortunately

let's hope the lastest episode (the coach Beard one) was the absolute low of the show and it gets better again because cot damn that was absolute dogchit

Fuarkkkkk I didn’t even realize that.

Currently rewatching Scrubs (minus the new “teaching” garbage) for the 6969th time. It’s definitely a top 5 sitcom in my book.

It’s also extremely accurate from a medical standpoint.


Sudeikis is also an extremely likable dude. I liked his character in 30 Rock. I’ll have to check it out.

Too much Nate and Beard focus in this season. I liked them much better as likeable background characters, no need to move them to the limelight.
