I read this book through kindle unlimited and I couldn’t like it becausethe heroine is the biggest biotch and just filled with such toxic levels of blind selfishnessduring one of the lowest points of the hero’s life.She thought only of herself and not the hero or of her little girlby blowing her relationship sky high with her willfully overlooking the hero’s enormous and sudden catastrophic loss.She made a tragedy that had NOTHING to do with her, ALL about her.Standing in the chard ruins of the orchard the heroine berates and verbally whips a man at his lowest and therefore the heroine becomes just as selfish as the evil caricature of a step mother in this story. Why in the world would I be satisfied with a HEA? This woman is not deserving of it and by her being undeserving, I was robbed of a satisfactory HEA reading experience as well.In my opinion the hero should have considered himself lucky to escape a woman so selfish and blind in her superior judgmental attitude, that she would kick a man when he is down.The heroine is guilty of a self righteous tirade against a man who had yet to process the utter devastation of what he thinks at the time is his whole world.But that she could be so unfeeling and so unmoved on just a human level to the utter vast destruction she witnesses and continues to spew her vitriol on the hero is just unfathomable to me.That the ENTIRE orchard was not a victim of the selfish stepmother’s evil machinations, does not redeem the heroine’s toxic words and actions right after the fire. I personally was not satisfied he took the heroine back. She didn’t deserve him. Sorry to say I can’t recommend this book because in my opinion, the hero deserved way better than he got and so does the reader.
