Is excessive partying the root cause of degenerization?

Seems like around 2015 everyone was partying, drinking was a must do, smoking was the only way out of depression, eating nice was a fashion, everyone was dancing, everyone enjoyed freedom and thought being crazy for a few hours was fun, one night stands were seen as better alternative to long term relationships, too much led to the entire reality go crazy and now we have a very different world.

It contributes but the root was Playboy which was a CIA operation. Hugh Hefner is related to the Bush’s and also John Kerry if I recall.

There was that interview with a pornstar being asked if pornstars had sex with each other off camera. She said yes, they all just go to parties, and everybody just fuks one another. I had never been so turned on in my life.

I think it is a result of a lack of morality and the desire to indulge in pleasure, rather than be productive. The way we reward ourselves is messed up with a lot of ppl. It should be work and be productive, or delayed gratification, rather than gratification first second and third and work while high or some chit lol a finance friend of mine used to sniff h and do his job. That's not good lol

no. we partied in the 80s and 90s and 00s. and they partied before us. stop trying to rationalize everything into your little tiny miniscule limited worldview. you know nothing. they only thing you should know for sure is that you know nothing. remember that. you're a victim of confirmation bias.

The best chit in life typically happens outside of the party scene. The growth as a man, growth in career, experiences and adventure, etc. The type of people you meet too are typically lower quality in terms of well-being, physical/mental health, career, etc. in party scenes.

Society is enamored by stories (movies, books, games, TV) which usually entail no partying whatsoever, or otherwise the main characters are usually only mildly/controllably intoxicated. People idolize James Bond, Indiana Jones, Goku, Master Chief, Solid Snake, yet do nothing behaviorally to act as free, courageous, and successful like them. Instead they just drink booze, "party", get hungover, stare at screens all day for leisure, and degenmax. Gone is discipline. I write these words whilst acknowledging I'm a hypocrit.

I agree with your philosophy and repped you for writing that, but do you really think the bolded is correct? Frankly, most of the people I know that are tremendously successful are all partying degens too (think people on Wall Street, etc.). For whatever reason, American, and unfortunately Eastern culture nowadays too, is very focused on short-term indulgences versus the long-term struggle for something more meaningful. Everyone I know from all walks of life lives for partying as much as possible.

Everyone parties. But the best in society put fierce limitations on it. Frequent partiers (once a week or more often) were what I meant as being typically lower quality and comprise the bulk of participants in the party scene. The higher quality worthwhile humans probably don't "party" more than once a month, srs, except for special occasions (holidays, weddings, etc.), and primarily attend bigger planned events to get their party fever shaken out of their system for the month, like a downtown party's "First Friday" of the month, or some annual concerts/festivals. They wouldn't be found every weekend going barhopping, Applebees, World of Beer, whatever.

I'm in favor of 99% sobriety for the long term, as opposed to people who jump into 90% sobriety (168 hours a week, wanting 16+ hours of being drunk per week).

Again, I get what you're saying, but I just don't see this to be true. I have a lot of super successful friends and all of them are degenerate drunks. Their life is basically working 70-80 hour weeks and then spending the last few precious hours of free time they have getting bottle service at expensive/trendy clubs. That's literally their entire life. I doubt they have grown at all as people beyond their profession and maybe a select few are doing well with women (who are also degenerate sloots). They're doing excellent financially and whatnot, but I doubt they have any hobbies outside of money, spending money, and drinking. Maybe watching sports, but that's literally it.

The only time these dudes didn't party was when they were in high school and surrounded by Tiger Parent Asian/Indian moms that controlled their entire lives. Once they went to elite schools, they partied. Once they got to Wall Street, they partied. Once they made it to the buyside, they partied, etc.

I assume by "super successful friends" you just mean money. This is not equivalent to "best humans in society", which is what i mean to say when I refer to people as being "high quality" or "low quality". The super successful degenmax friends would be considered lower quality as a result of likely full of insecurities, mental health issues, physical health issues from being alcoholics, having no skills beyond their career and downing a bottle and being a socially funny guy in a party scene knowing the latest about sports and whatever is on mainstream media.

Bolded a certain section in your quote. That's what I'm mostly trying to say in my original post ITT. Their lack of hobbies, skills, knowledge, actual experiences of interest that are worthy to tell stories about (not just seeing a bar fight or watching a sloot strip in public after drinking too much or some chit), is proof that they're stagnant in life and will likely fast forward one or two decades, looking back, and wish they were healthier, wish they didn't blow their money on outtings/booze, wish they traveled more sober and learned another language or saw landmarks before they get destroyed one way or another, etc.

EDIT: To be clear, I'm low quality AF right now and plan to change that. Good thing I'm only 26! It's important to accept it to change it.

Definitely agree with you rather than the Visel thinking that the majority of successful people don't party. Most very successful people tend to have done something to start making a lot of money at a young age. What do you think happens when you give someone who is relatively young a lot of money? They start trying to buy happiness and that most often times includes partying. On top of that it is the mentality of being somewhat of a risk taker to make it big and that is the same mentality many party goers have. I think Visel is mistaking the average weekend warrior for someone who has their **** together and is an animal on all levels of work and partying... I know a lot of people that get after it living VIP life on trips and right back to work on Monday with no one having a clue they essentially live a double life.

Eh, this is all subjective though. I have plenty of friends who aren't nearly as professionally successful but are doing more "meaningful" stuff and still have issues/insecurities. I really wish I were, frankly, more like my friends not because they're wealthy but because they literally have a singular focus on money/women and pursue it relentlessly. I'm very much so a person who likes a lot of different chit. It makes me "interesting" I guess in my own way and certainly "multifaceted", but it's really hard to say this is necessarily a better path. Outside of a few musicians, for example, that make it big, even a bunch of statistically "elite" musicians are struggling to make ends meet and probably aren't exactly a paragon for a fulfilled life either.
