The Wonder Years

Fuark guys. Decided to watch the 2021 version of this show. I was a little nervous because the cast has been made all black so I was nervous that it was going to be an sjw circle jerk or non-inclusive.

Based in the 1960's

...and it's awful.

5 seconds into the pilot episode something like "1968, the year my parents gave me the talk about how to interact with cops as a black person, racial tensions in America..."

it sprinkles in non-race things in between 75% being about racism and skin color.

why couldn't they just write their own show about racial politics and not ruin the name of one of the GOAT shows ever?

Damn, that sucks. I loved the original series(actually own it) and was cautiously optimistic about the reboot. That’s what I was scared of though…using as a platform to preach about how evil white people are. Why couldn’t they just make it like the Cosby Show? What made the original so great is that it covered universal topics that almost everyone could relate to. Who the fukk wants to sit and watch a show that just constantly talks about racism??

i don't get it either. its first episode was so on the nose about it it just turned me off. i'm actually open to a great show about the black family experience during that time period, I'm sure it could be amazing. but ripping off the wonder years title?
