How did rap/hip-hip go from this to this? (Ded fkn Srs)
Blows my mind how rap used to be so masculine and sound like this, to this current garbage. People always look at me like i'm nuts when I'm blasting DMX or Eminem. (Ded fkn Srs)

when was the last time an epic trance tune came out?

Okay brother, I will give it to you straight.
First off, that video you posted is just one off-shoot of the classic hip hop sound we all know and love. There are many branches on that tree, including sample based/ sequenced dance music and electronic music. Dozens of new genres (if not alot more) have roots in hip hop.
Second, the MP3 and the digital age killed off the culture. Hip hop music survived and evolved, but you no longer had to be associated with the scene. Instead of going to parties and watching DJs, listening to music you could listen at home alone in your basement.
Instead of walking the tracks/ platforms of the elevated with other graffiti artists, talking with writers and battling, getting called out and having to show and prove, you could browse the internet and copy someone elses work with no foundation or fresh ideas.
I could go on but I will stop myself.

Nothing wrong with rap music that isn’t super aggressive. That’s just a sh*t example. But nas, j cole etc have some great songs.

Rap hasn't changed, but what has changed is what people listen to. People who make what was considered good a few decades ago just dont get exposure anymore.
