Why is impossible to find a game that interests me in 2021?

My time for gaming has been severely limited due to being in nursing school but when I do get free time and I try to game, I just can't find anything that interests me, am I must numb to games now?

I have a discord with all my buddies and I look at what they're playing all the time and none of it appeals to me...

WoW: I played that off and on since 2007 and I have zero interest in it now, BFA and Shadowlands have been the two worst expansions in history and I doubt I'll ever go back.
Warzone: Full of hackers and I'm bored to tears of it.
New World: Played the beta and watched streams of it and I have zero interest in it.
D2R: No interest in a 21 year old nostalgia trip grinding chitty mobs over and over again.

I went and installed games that I used to love like BF4, Dishonored, and a few others and I just got bored after a little bit.

I need something to kickstart my love of gaming.

Honestly I think the only thing that'll keep me interested is when Lost Ark finally gets that NA release.

I'm in the same boat man. Only game I play regularly now is Rocket League. Only games I have finished in the past 6 months have been

The Ascent
Ratchet and Clank
Demon's Souls

thank God for Steam's awesome refund policy cause I use that all the time.

Lot of games just suck, OP, they go woke over story/music/gameplay.

Having tits or being afro-asian-mexican-whatever as a main character with some mental illness isn't going to make a game good.

Deathloop, Tales of Arise, Psychonauts 2, The Ascent, Ratchet and Clank, etc.

If you can't find a game to play these days you probably don't like gaming.

Imagine not playing games for their difficulty.

Hollow Knight, Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Hades, Dead Cells.

Have you tried a game called "Git Gud"?

Yeah, no longer finding joy in things you used to find pleasurable is a symptom of depression.

Never understood people who say there's no good games out. I mean this year alone there's been:

Diablo 2
Tales of Arise
Deathloop
Kena
Scarlet Nexus
Psychonauts 2
New World
Pathfinder
Persona 5 Strikers
Hitman 3
RE 8
Valheim
Nioh 2
Nier Replicant

And those are just of the top of my head

I never once said they weren't good, I said I'm not enjoying any games.

I'm sure lots of those games are amazing to a lot of people.

Gaming had never been better IMO. I mean yea gaming right now isn't as good as it was for me during what was the best of times for me, but that just means a strong 8 or 9 / 10 instead of 10/10. And I know there are 10/10 moments in my backlog as well as on the release horizon. Too many games in 2021 interest me too much.

I'd say something along these lines. Perhaps stress from life curbing enjoyment in leisure time. Some external factor most likely. Although it could just be a hobby you are outgrowing as well.

I enjoy all of my other hobbies and activities, gaming is the only one that I've grown bored of.

Agreed. Getting older now and the state of gaming is not awesome. When you create a platform like Steam, the volume of games goes up, but the quality goes down. Its cool to see so many indi games, but so much garbage to sift through to find the gems.

I find myself playing BL2 (3 had a lot of social constructionism in the story), and classic games like Dragons Dogma, Fallout, etc. just no interest in most of the stuff out now.

Did y’all see Amazons flagship take a dumpster dive too? Lulz Servers we’re crashing and had 1-2 hour queue times.

Since you shot down the other factors ... It's probably just a phase. It's fine to take a break from an activity that no longer gives you enjoyment. Maybe you've just played so many games that you're kinda burnt out. On top, there isnt "too many" AAA or big games coming out or games that appeal to you personally.

Take a break from gaming, work on your other hobbies and you'll be back hungry for a lot of heavy big hitters that'll come out next year like Horizon, Elden Ring, god of war? etc. Also do you have a PS5/Series x / current gaming rig? if you're playing on outdated systems could also be a reason, as playing on new systems which take advantage of better loading times, graphics, framerates also contribute to a better overall experience as a whole tbh.

Honestly, the biggest problem most people have is chasing after all the latest critically acclaimed bullchit. People keep buying games off other people's taste hoping they will enjoy it for the same reasons they did, doesn't work unless you can relate to the critics.

Yeah I don't trust reviews. People on metacritic were giving marvel avengers a 0 but no way it's that bad.

I just want Warcraft 4 or a Starcraft MMO.

But Blizzard is an absolute shell of it's former self(and that's putting it mildly) so they'd probably screw it up.

My peak of enjoyment in video games comes from my times as a rather young kid getting into gaming, mostly singleplayer stuff at the time but with my brother/dad, and then in my teen years when I started playing online games like Halo, CoD, L4D, Battlefield, with friends who played consistently. Usually IRL friends, but some friends whom I met online that lived far away too.

If I self reflect, the last few years gaming has been kinda boring unless I'm playing with someone, srs. Whether that's locally or online.

If what I wrote above kinda resonates with you, then my ideas are:

- Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042. Not only is it the new Halo and Battlefield, but Halo iscrossplayfor Xbox and PC, with Battlefield beingcrossplayfor Xbox PC and PlayStation. Halo Infinite's multiplayer is particularly free. This is an opportunity to reconnect with some lost friends who still game but on other systems that you don't play. And everyone on PC/Xbox can get Halo due to it being free.

- All else fails try streaming. You'll build friends, some consistent viewers, maybe even get profit from it after enough time of consistent streaming and being a personality or otherwise being good at the game.
