Brand new vehicle - engine died and won’t start at 1000 miles within 10 days
Edit: for the crying ph***** it’s a Lincoln aviator.
1000 miles in 10 days and I was stranded in the middle of the road. All electrical works. Wrecker tried jumping also but electric was not an issue to begin with.
It’s at the dealership. They had to tow it. They think the engine locked up.
Was driving it. Stopped behind a school bus. Car said to put transmission in park. So put it in park.
And that was the end of it. Wouldn’t crank or get out of park into neutral or any other gear.
Called dealership. Got it towed there. Rear wheels were locked as the tow truck pulled cuz he couldn’t get it to neutral either after being on call with dealership for 15 minutes.
5 days later they still don’t know wtf is going on. They think maybe genuine is seized but they also day they don’t know what’s going on with it and that they haven’t looked at it cuz they can’t tow it.
Whatever man. Gimme my money back imo.
What do? What’s my options? I do not want this one back!!

Research your state's lemon law.
In my state:
On a new vehicle the dealer must replace or refund if:
1. The SAME PROBLEM has been subject to repair FOUR OR MORE TIMES by the manufacturer or dealer within the period of two years or twenty-four thousand miles following the date of original delivery of the motor vehicle to the purchaser, whichever is earlier; and the problem continues to exist.

You need to see what the "lemon" law requirements are
Typically they need to have a chance to fix it and they have blank number of days/chances
But cars are just like everything
You have a risk of it breaking at any moment

you're most likely going to get a new engine through warranty and because its been 10 days of ownership you're likely past any sort of legal return policy to get a different vehicle and a dealership isnt going to give you a new vehicle and just fix yours and sell it to someone else, its going to just at worst take the hit and give you a ****ty new engine.

Pretty sure you have 90 days/4,000 miles to return the car for any issue whatsoever.

lawyer up right TF now DED SRS holmes or go back, drop off the keys and threaten litigation if they dont take it back now.
just won 14.5k from Ford over a POS f150 (but commie lawyer took half so really like 7.25k)
similar chit happened to me only it started off as engine rattling, valve chattering but then as soon as it ticked over 36k a bunch of other chit started going sideways. tranny issues, tail light housing filling up with water. seat belt retractor going bad 2x, front diff going bad, rear spider gear going out, sync 3 freezing constantly, grinding under hood. sometimes died when making a turn. etc etc etc
luckily they covered the drivetrain issues but everything else still persists i just deal with it.
should have taken it back to the dealer the INSTANT i heard valve chattering at like 200 miles but i just thought hey its a new truck or maybe its some bad gas or whatever
was one of those "intermittent" issues but then by the time i was out of the powertrain period (1.5yrs later) a whole fukkin slew of other problems showed up.

In Canada you have ten days to revoke any contract. If you're at that point why take any chances and just return the car or tell them to give you another one.
Dealer will try to screw you starting with the salesman so make sure you escalate to the general manager as soon as you can, let him know if he balks your lawyer will be contacting him and the manufacturers head office. Sucks you got a lemon though, it's going to be a PITA.

I have worked as a salesman for 6 years and 3 dealerships. New car dealerships excpecially want you to be a happy customer. They want to keep you happy so that they can keep their license to sell new cars for Toyota or whoever the brand is.
Give them time to figure out what is going on. Be patient with the techs. Some times weird issues take time to diagnose.
DO NOT TAKE THE CAR BACK. If they tell you “we cant figure it out best of luck Jack” DO NOT TAKE THE CAR BACK. Leave it there. It is still legally yours. It is safe there.
Do not accept the car back. Demand (in a polite professional manner) that they fix the car. If they will not fix the car then you need to talk to a lawyer.
Regardless of your states lemon law which you should still look into, if they try to not fix the car because the owner is a bucket head call their bluff, do not take the car back, keep pleading your case with the dealer. Its in his best interest to just fix the car and make you go away.
Do this while looking at your legal options. Keep telling them to fix it. If worse comes to worse hold a sign up outside the dealership and make him lose money.
If he loses one or two sales alone he would have been better off financially just fixing your car.
Edit: Every dealership I have worked for would have made sure that your car was fixed regardless of the problem or lemon law just to keep a good reputation in the community and good standing with their corporate office.
The dealers I worked for were Toyota, Ford, and Subaru. New car dealers have higher standards then used. But if it is a used car bought at a new car dealership the standards still apply to the used cars sold.

Its a brand new car, it comes with a brand new warranty, and any engine that dies at 1k miles no matter the cause will be warrantied.......
