USPS is like the easiest path to middle class srs.
No skills required. Start at $18.60/hr with benefits.
Literally all you have to do is apply and take a simple fuking test that's basically looking for the easiest personality questions and consistency (Asks you the same questions, reworded, several times through the test).
Union, so as long as you show up to your job it's like impossible to lose. You get raises, annual leave, sick leave, health benefits. Everything is based on seniority instead of skill/work ethic.
Work more than 8hrs and it's overtime.. more than 10hrs and it's double overtime. Generally have consistent days off once you are there for a while. More or less work off of set schedule unless you are a mail carrier. Paid holidays.
Mail carrier is the "Hardest" job pretty much, but you're basically by yourself all day walking/driving. Sucks if you hate outdoors and a busy schedule, otherwise... Get a job inside the processing plant, brb ezmode looking at zip codes and dropping chit into a sack, or driving forklifts around.
If you have an NDC in your area you don't even have to deal with actual mail/letters, just packages/parcels. Spend half the day fuking off.
Would recommend to any jobless mofo's without a skillset.

I got a buddy that is usps mail carrier and he is always working. He said if it wasn't for benefits and not being able to lift the heavy package (disabled veteran) he would have been a ups driver. I do agree with you OP if you want an easy gov job with good retirement I would suggest something in the post office also uncle Joe says you don't have to get the microchip.

I dunno brah they call it "going postal" for a reason.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Meh, the point of the thread was not USPS is the most amazing high paying job. It was that it requires absolutely no skill sets and a monkey could do most of the jobs. There are threads on here every day of people being unable to find jobs making like more than 12/hr.
Thread was meant to be a heads up for those folks.

UPS employees work way fuking harder inside the facilities than USPS and make the same pay more or less.
I *think* UPS starts a couple bucks lower for package handlers like 15/16/hr but it might have changed recently.
No idea about Fedex tho. Imagine it's the similar.
If you're not adverse to hardwork, all of them are pretty ez options if you're having trouble finding jobs that pay more than 12/hr.

Isn't that a government job though? So it's basically welfare and you're getting paid with money stolen from real people via 'taxes.'

I agree, OP. I wouldn't necessarily say it's an easy path. Like you said though if you stick your head down and do what you gotta do, you can actually get a pretty decent living (depending on where you live). The mail people in my town are actually pretty nice people. They don't seem miserable at all. And the guy who usually works the front desk when I drop off packages has such a calm demeanor.

Its easy to feel "comfortable" in a job like that, and "feeling comfortable" at a job is dangerous. You should ALWAYS be looking for a way out to a better career. Sure you can do USPS for a few years just to pad your resume, but don't be a boomer and stay at a job like that for 20 years. You'd be doing yourself a disservice doing that when there are other jobs willing to pay you more.

Easy lmao
The overwhelming majority of people wouldn’t last a week delivering mail, especially not some IT stemcel nerd. The first 2 years usps literally tries to break you, they make you work 6 days a week 10 hours a day, say goodbye to your social life. It’s not until you become a regular that it becomes “easier” and even then it’s a soul sucking job. There’s a reason their turnover rate is insanely high

I realize no one wants to walk around in the weather all day. Lets assume this thread isn't about people who deliver mail. It's about jobs within the mail facility.
Carriers tend to work 6 days a week because no one with seniority wants to do it.
Inside the facility, it's actually more difficult for new employees to get the overtime because it's offered to seniority first, and they all want it.
10 years at the USPS and you will almost certainly be making north of 28$/hr not including any overtime.
Again this post is not "OMGZ SO MUCH MONIES". It's about an easy avenue to middle class, that essentially requires nothing.
Ur not gonna be CEO/10k a day working at the USPS. But you can easily make 60k+ a year after putting in some time, and it's ezpz (again, not talking about mail carriers/Delivery).

Was in rehab with a guy that worked for USPS most of his career after the military, had some dope ass stories. Guy was pretty high up as far as the blue collars go too. Stories about just getting drunk on the reg at work and rolling home and slapping his wife around, waking up apologizing and doing it all over again. Covering for his boys constantly wrecking forklifts all drunk and chit, banging the gutter trash females that worked there. Apparently the females are absolute cum guzzlers, sucking dick for a bump and chit to get a lift during a shift lol.
