11th Oct is Columbus Day not Indigenous peoples day.

Columbus Day was actually started after several Italians were executed for crimes they did not commit. Columbus Day was to placate the unease of Italians who felt discriminated against.

Read that again. Or read this.

Just an observation, but anyone I ever hear making a big deal of how awful Columbus day is always turns out to be an insufferable cuunt that I probably don't care to be around.

Columbus never stepped foot in America either. The Spanish and anglosaxons were enemies, the reason Columbus is celebrated in America is because of Italian immigrants wanting credit and representation even though Columbus might have been Portugese lol

The Mexicans should thank Cortes though for creating them. Without the Spanish Mexicans would never exist.

Columbus wasn't even that bad of a dude, especially relative to others in his day. The anti-columbus crowd just attributes 100 years of post-columbus rule to him.

Why does Columbus need to be tied to America to celebrate him? Jesus wasn't American and you're probably fine with Easter.

I’m fine with getting rid of Columbus Day as long as it’s replaced with a day honoring Amerigo Vespucci or John Cabot (Giovanni Caboto).

Actually come to think of it, Giovanni Verrazzano would be the best explorer to celebrate in the U.S. He was an Italian, alpha and he discovered New York, along with sailing the rest of the east coast unlike other explorers who basically just went to Bermuda or some chit.

People have to remember Columbus was a Genoan, something which rubbed the Castilians the wrong way once they realized what he had discovered. I would take a lot of the things said about him with a huge grain of salt.

In the early days of the Spanish empire, the belief was that the New World was Castiles alone, not Aragon or Navarre.

lol @ 'remembering' things no one knew in the first place. I do think they should teach history and not a PC narrative.
