Hit 315 on bench press for the second time in my life yesterday, except this time

while being lean. Feels great man, motivated as ever on the gym too. This damn passion changed my entire life for the better, i thank God for putting me in front of 'Pumping Iron' when i was just a little kid

Im going to try to break it in 2 weeks with with 325 (315 moved relatively comfortable), after that im going to get into gymnastics (srs). I want to be able to do crazy **** on the bar/rings etc, like sets of 10 strict muscle ups, planches, handstands and **** like that. Basically want to be in complete control of my body, but probably need to drop 5-7kgs for that

What are your goals on the gym misc?

Well I'm on the wrong side of 35 now so my main goal is just staying lean and mobile. I'm too scared of injuring my back again to go too heavy with the compounds.

Congrats on the PR OP. 3 plates while lean is no joke

Mirin very hard srs. 315 isnt even a thought for me. Hitting that lean is really impressive.

Goals right now being able to run a sub 20min 5k + 15 pullup set with a 45 lb plate + BW bench x 15 (I weigh175 at like 11-12%bf)

Currently at 20:50 5K / 7 pullups / 7 rep bw bench

I imagine this time next year all those will be crushed. Im only 2 months getting back to the gym since covid shut everything down.

Mirin Ken, hard AF. Srs. Keep at it brah. Good to see a lifting thread on the misc lol. My goals are to just get back in there. I've been insaaaanely busy with work projects but I'm putting a stop to that. I need lifting in my life to feel healthy and relieve stress. As far as personal bench goals, I want to get above three plates again someday. Best bench ever was 385 as a bloatlord (205lbs bw at 5'11"), currently at 180lbs bw. Just looking to gradually get bench gains back and stick with the 5/3/1 program for a while. It's always worked well for me.

also mirin gymnastics goals. I think it's bad ass when people try different chit like that, especially when accomplishing milestones in other hobbies. Makes life interesting and makes you more well rounded/confident.

**** man, 385 is impressive AF. Id need like 6 months of training an 20kg more in order to push that lol

yeah man, i always need a very clear goal, if i dont have a goal i immediately lose motivation. I cant simply maintain.

Im mostly always cutting/clean bulking but this time i tried to equal my PR while being lean. Now i want to be more athletic and healthier.

Sometimes I think about that moment when I hit it, and I get the feels brah. It hurts honestly. I was 20 years old at the time (33 right now), and a single man with 100% focus on powerlifting/getting huge. Priorities are so different in my life right now, and I don't aspire to hit 385 again, but I do want to get back above three plates like you because that is quite a feat in itself. Srs. I don't know of anybody personally in my gym that hits three plates ever. So it's a solid/awesome goal in itself.

I'm 3 years to 40 now, so I don't have many weight milestones on the radar. I've benched over 405 and deadlifted over 600.

Recently I made the goal to Incline DB Press the 140's for 10 and Shoulder DB Press the 120's for 10. I ended up hitting 140's for 11 and 120's for 9. So can't complain there.

Mainly trying to just maintain my strength and stay healthy now. Will likely lean out 20lbs or so and get back near 220.
6'1 - 240lbs

Basically the same as yours. Bought gymnastic rings this summer and love them.

I think my biceps (damn stubborn body part) are finally growing from the straight arm work on the rings.

Post a video of anything over 275 pls.

Also, good luck with gymnastics. It's a young man's game, hard as fuk, my 6yo son is in it now and loves it.

Like Vin Diesel above, 38 this year and just trying to stay strong and healthy. Ideally this block will net a bench over 350, squat over 450 (terrible squatter), and deadlift over 600. I've got no aspirations to compete professionally, but really love the sport and community that comes with powerlifting/powerbuilding/bodybuilding and lifting anything in general.

lol, what for?

What worries me about gymnastics is that my second goal is to build up my legs to match my upperbody, particularly hamstrings, and adding more muscle on my legs will impact my bodyweight exercises.

But hey thats the game, the harder the better it feels (no homo)

How has the bench routine been going Ken? Curious if you've nailed that 325. I'm starting a new 5/3/1 cycle on Monday, looking forward to getting in the upper 200's and maybe get 315 by the summer.

It went to ****. Im repping 225 for like 8 right now. Not sure why, may be my extremely low protein poverty diet from november-december. Have not gone to the supermarket in like 4 months lol.

Why would you do this?

Seems extremely inconsistent with the gymnast goals or retaining any strength/muscle in general.

When I skimp out on sleep it REALLY changes things in the gym for me. Srs. My capacity just isn't there, and it's very noticeable on the compound lifts for me. It's crazy but I simply have to get 7+ hours before a gym session if I want to make gains.
