US successfully tests Mach 5 hypersonic ballistic missile..
https://eandt.theiet.org/content/art...-moon-rockets/
5 times the speed of sound jesus christ
This is where our money is going foolks and im glad. This renders any current air defensive systems obsolete.
You guys should listen to Joe Rogan with his last interview with Mike Baker( former CIA operative). He says some very interesting and quitefrankly terrifying things about secret weapons the US is developing using the $60 billion dollar black budget the military has.
What a time to be alive.

60 billion dollar black budget we know of. Add another 100 billion that is not recorded lol. Nice that we got that missile. It just seems like a warhead with a scramjet attached to it? I'm guessing the propulsion took a hell of a lot of time to perfect, but I could have swore they have been working with scram tech since the 80s 90s with the Aurora project?

we're fukked if we're stuck at mach5 and I suspect we are having worked with NG's engineers.
The B-21 is literally just a rejected design for the b-2 from the 80s. They couldn't design it from scratch because NG is to fooking corporate-important to train new people.
All of NG's latest tech comes from companies they acquired then gutted, period.

I guarantee there is way more capabilities than they are telling if they are bragging about mach 5.

Still much lagging behind the ruski missile tech, and that should be worrying.
Also, its not a ballistic missile.

It would take 2.5 hours for that missile to travel across the face of the earth. Scrap the project. Put money into space force and have satellites in orbit that can shoot down on targets.

They should spend that money to develop an effective way to intercept missiles instead.

These missiles are next gen of military tech, and until missile defence can catch up the side with the best will be on top. You can have as many soldiers, tanks, and aircraft carriers as you want... they will be sitting ducks for these things.
At the moment, the fastest hypersonic is a russian one and it speculated to he able to achieve mach 9.

Once the US, China and Russia start loading hypersonic missiles into subs, it's over.
No nation will have a chance to retaliate before missiles land on their soil.
This is going to increase the risk of a first strike.

Are we thinking about the speed wrong? Isn't more speed past what is needed for the objective a waste and impacts reliability?
It's not how fast you can go but how fast you need to go accounting for the other trade-offs?
