How would you approach a true spontaneous fight?

Say, you're jumped and end up with some guy trying to fight you. How do you fight?

My thoughts:

1) You give up your property and try to flee. Petty criminals probably only want the money and not to risk violent charges.

2) Run in general as soon as you can.

3) The flashlight on your phone could blind any attacker. Easy weapon if you do not carry pepper spray or anything else. I'd probably use this and dial 9 11, trying to avoid blows as long as possible.
