What generator to get for the coming Great Reset?

Warnings of dark winter and power outages happening here and all over the world have got me preparing.

Not trying to power the whole house, just a/c fridge, phones, etc.

Gas or diesel? Etc. I don’t know chit about generators, educate me misc.

Under $1500, I have central air but I also have a few stand alone room units that I would power, not the whole house. This is to get by in a pinch not live comfortably. No natural gas or propane tank at house.

In order to power your homes central air conditioner, you’re likely going to need a very high output generator. Most air conditioners require a ton of power to start/run, far more than anything else in your home. You’ll definitely want to check to see how much power your A/C requires before purchasing a generator.

They can get very pricey. What is your budget?

If you’re willing to sacrifice your A/C power and just focus on powering other appliances, you can get away with a much lower output and more affordable generator.

Diesel generators are less commonly used, but they are more fuel efficient. Keep in mind during winter emergencies sometimes it harder to find gas.

How many BTU’s do your window units put out, and how many would you be trying to run?

First move when buying a generator is to get an approximation of the amount of wattage you’ll need to power the appliances you plan to run. Pay close attention to the “starting” watts, not just the “running” watts.

when the **** hits the fan and the the black gangs and mexican gangs from the citys run out of food and march to the suburbs in search of food theyll see your house lit up or hear your generator.
thats my thoughts, not to mention the propane required to run it will run out anyways. better off to invest in more ammo and a underground bunker with a pillbox to shoot muthafuggas.

Get one that operates on both propane and gas. Buy at minimum 100lb propane tank and fill ahead of time. Propane never goes bad. Today’s garbage Gas goes bad quickly and last time I needed to use my generator it wouldn’t start with the gas that was in it so I had to drain the tank. When my house was built they put a plug on the exterior wall and hooked into my panel so I can choose which circuits to power and at same time not feed power back out to the lines.

Dual power generator. 100lb+ propane tank. Preferred plug on exterior wall hooked into panel.

My portable gas generator is about $750 new and actually powered quite a bit last time my power went out. 8250 watts starting 5500 running. Even powered my 1.5hp well pump. Heat takes a lot of watts so that’s the only thing that concerns me with mine so I got a couple of those smaller electric heaters that should do good in smaller rooms.

A standard 10000w generator will set you back less than $1500. That will be enough to power a refridgerator/freezer plus several small appliances and/or receptacles.

For $1,500 you can get a 10,000 watt gas generator and have an electrician hardwire into your house. This is so you are not fooling around with extension cords through windows.

A 10,000 watt can power fridge, freezer, boiler, and some lights etc.

Pick gas over diesel as diesel will gel up in very cold weather and gas is also sold everywhere.

Also this thing makes noise so probably put it behind the house or not right next to your neighbors.

$1,500 should be plenty but I would call an electrician and have them do a free estimate. They will put a box next to your electrical box so you don’t feed power back into the electrical grid.

Also with a generator you will only run it for a few hours here and there, maybe run it all night though depending on how cold it is. Also buy an extra comforter or two.

If you do get it, make sure to run the generator for 15 minutes every month or two to make sure it’s running correctly. Last thing you want is your fuel lines fooked up when your power goes out.

Youre talking about a different setup, one thats connected to the grid of the house, maybe auto start when power is out, powering literally everything in the house. I'm not asking for that. I'm looking for emergency use only, not watching netflix while central air is on. I'm looking to keep food from spoiling, warm/cool air single room units, and cooking for a few days at a time.

Possible to store propane tanks that grills use and use those for the generator using an adaptor?

My worries aren't so much about resources to stay where I am, but rather oppressive subjugation and taxation aimed at seizing your property. You will own nothing and you'll be happy. That said, by all means hedge. We bought a champion dual fuel that'll run off propane or gas and power the whole house. It was not expensive.

Propane business brah here. Generators drink the gas. We wont set a tank smaller than 500 gallons if a Generator is going to be on the line. They will burn probably at least 3 gallons an hour. A 20lb propane bottle will be around 4.7 gallons.

That said people do what you're suggesting. But it's far from ideal. I have a generac at my house tied onto a 1000 gallon tank.
