Cats require far less maintenance/care. I can be gone to work all day and don't need to worry that my cat is gonna piss/**** himself if I'm late getting home. I don't need to "walk" the cat (not that I don't play with him in the house). Cats also typically live longer to my knowledge, and I like cat personality better than dogs, typically.
