"Build the life you want, then save for it" Thoughts?

Any of you older, more successful brahs want to offer any insight on this? I just came across this quote yesterday, and am not really sure what to make of it. I've definitely put off some things that I want cause I don't feel quite secure enough to pull the trigger on them, but now I'm wondering if i'm spending too much time waiting for tomorrow and not enough living for today.

For example I decided a few years back i would only ever buy a car if it was used, and I could pay 100% cash up front. Now i'm realizing i can comfortably afford a car payment and budget around that, and be in the car I want much sooner than I thought. How do you strike a balance? how do you decide when to pull the trigger on something you know you will enjoy?

Brah what I've learned in life is that everything material is temporary and offers temporary relief.

I'd rather be happy than miserable in a ferrari, but i wouldn't mind being happy AND in a ferrari.

Hope that makes sense.

You'll need to figure out what is most cost effective in terms of a car - not just the cheapest car option, but repairability, etc.

The thing about new vs old cars is that a decent used car (1-2 years) is basically the same quality as a brand new one, but costs a bunch less.

buy a house that cash flows 800 per month then use the cash flow to buy your cute new car instead

if people replaced buying their wants with things that can pay for those wants they would end up better off long term having both their wants and the assets that cash flow to pay for them

easiest to do with real estate, maybe high div paying stocks
