Ptsd therapy

So I’ve been through quite a bit recently and it’s pretty clear to me that I’ve wound up with a pretty bad case of ptsd. What are treatments and therapy that helps to resolve this malady?

Hey, sorry to hear that may be experiencing ptsd. Have you considered looking for different counselors or therapists in your area? That seems like the best place to start.

If your looking for some goodsupplementalreading, this is a pretty decent book that was recommended to someone I know with ptsd by their therapist. It is calledThe Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Traumaand the author is Bessel van der Kolk.

I know it's a bit of an undertaking, but I've had friends with PTSD benefit immensely from adopting a shelter dog.
On the more standard treatment side, a lot of people use a combination of medication and psychotherapy. Depending on where you live/what you're willing to pay the psychotherapy can be very good, or a waste of time and frustrating. I'm not a fan personally of people medicating themselves to treat it without planning to eventually wean themselves off the medication, but I'm not speaking from a personal experience with PTSD.

Na I haven’t had the time, the resources to pursue that, let alone the adequate medication to do so either. Though it’s certainly something that I plan on doing... I’ll have to check out the book, thanks bruv. Btw you know what it’s like? This trauma therapy?

Not sure if I’d adopt a shelter dog vs just buying a new one but j do know that they can be of benefit. IME, therapy in general doesn’t do much benefit unless the medication is in order. The dual diagnosis in Utah worked tremendously whilst combining Dexedrine with therapy and counseling.

Edit: I understand what you are saying with the self medication. I agree however I know that I’m a lifer. Whilst self medicating is a definite negative sometimes ptsd does become very unbearable and if doctors refuse to treat it appropriately and address surrounding issues. Sometimes you’re left with little to no choices in the matter. Particularly if people have messed up Covid conspiracy agendas though I do imagine Lockheed and DOD plus hopefully interpol may be taking care of that by gathering evidence via the cameras in my home for use in a federal court of law.

The book is good, though I still haven't finished reading it.

EMDR seems to help people.

I think it's good that there is more awareness, but some people do use the term too casually. I know of at least one specific clear event where I had it. Didn't know it though.

Spoiler!
I had a pet beagle that was constantly digging out under the fence to roam the neighborhood. The day it happened I saw her go under the chain link fence and was trying to stop her. I swear that dog smiled at me...she was such a clown.

I got in my car to go after her. Saw her get hit by a car. Scooped her up bleeding and put her in the car to go straight to the vet...I wasn't even dressed, just in my nightgown and pretty much losing it.

People at the vet's office were nice, but she was gone, probably while I was driving. Of course that made me feel worse. It effected my driving for years as I would always be paranoid that an animal or a child might come out from behind a parked car.

Cliffs version:

- you move your eyes side to side [usually following a light] while recalling an relating traumatic experiences

- this eye movement mimics being outside and moving/scanning the environment as you would if you were in "flight"

- it's supposed to rewire your experience of the event and reduce your trauma

Mostly exercises in behavioral therapy.

Try visualizing yourself in different situations and going through the exercises of different outcomes.

Cognitive behaviour therapy and trauma informed care. EMDR is an option as well. Like in any kind of medicine, what works for one may not work for the other but always worth giving a go

look in to cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectic behavioral therapy.

also, I have not done anything described as "exposure" therapy, but I have had a great deal of success overcoming issues that I face head on. I mean, like put in the moment again.

To take the time to actually process it, I mean feel it. Fuggin cry man. That helps me. A lot.

Look into ******** therapy. You can get it yourself, but it wouldn't hurt to have a pro nearby to guide you and relieve any anxiety if you go deep into it.

One LSD trip can help immensely too. And X.

Emdr helped me identify some early life instances that were causing me to think in a way that created habits and behaviors and addictions that were negatively impacting me and my families life. Is 10/10.

That being said unless you were having a laugh a few years ago you might have more problems than a simple case of ptsd boyo. Like you were a raving schizo for a year straight babbling nonsense.
