Because being hyper vigilant of symptoms/feelings will exacerbate mental health issues.

Lol if you think they care. Cripple you with anxiety force feed you some meds.

its the best way to get attention for an affliction that cannot be proven to be false

young people medicalise everything they feel, feeling a bit sad is now depression, having to turn in an assignment on time or go to a job is Stress, Not being happy 24/7 means you are in despair

whenever a girl says that mental health is important to her it's a huge red flag. It is a hugely over prescribed description for most young people.

However I do agree that there are too many untreated crazy people walking the streets. I'm in bay area (not SF) and live in a relatively safe suburb. Had my window broken in a smash n grab. WEnt to police weekly crime reports and 90% of crime is from homeless people living in freeway underpasses. I've seen these people and they are not mentally stable.

Two reasons

Reason 1: get people to accept clownworld. Aka “it’s ok to not feel ok”. Instead of realizing that you are depressed and anxious for a reason and that you should address the root cause, it makes you think it’s normal fine and acceptable to hate your life around the clock.

Reason 2: big business. Therapy , pharmaceuticals, etc app will continue to explode over the next decade. “Everyone should have a therapist” will be the new norm” . Money will be made off all these hopeless urban dwellers

Don’t get me wrong mental health has a place. But it’s not for 90%+ the population. But a pill is an easy way out instead of realizing maybe your lifestyle choices are creating what you hate so much

if you live a life that denies reality the contradiction of the lie you believe in and the true nature of your situation the cognitive dissonance will eventually drive you mad

It's a highly marketed benefit at every place I've worked. I take no issue with a focus on mental health, but it does concern me when it's an expected benefit, and those companiesalsogrant you access to communicate with a therapist 24/7. It's like a therapist recommending trigger warnings, it makes zero sense and I can't think of any outcome other than regression.

I don't disagree with any of the above, however I think it also has a lot to do with the fact that modern first world life has almost totally eliminated physical dangers to your health while making mental health somewhat worse. We have a lot of anxiety because of the pace of modern connected life, and not a lot of tangible risk to keep it in perspective.

I don't deny mental health issues, but its an easy excuse to use for any issue because you can't prove or disprove it.

This. Our primal brains are bored and anxious. We're ready at a moments notice to run from some boar charging at us, but it never comes. Then we spend most of our time sitting and eating with brain dead stimulus.

I sell into the benefits space in large US employees. All they talk about is buying EAP and mental health programs. I don't know if they're trying to check a box or are serious.

Engagement in these programs is in single digits. Why?
BECAUSE EMPLOYEE DON'T WANT TO ADMIT TO THEIR EMPLOYER that they have a problem.

EAPs, and diversity and inclusion are the biggest HR grifts going right now.

Because people with weapons started showing up at workplaces( going postal) to settle scores and it was a taboo subject before.

It's a psychological operation that makes even the KGB look like amateurs.

They give the people psychosis then act like the mental health concerns are being addressed meanwhile it's just pouring salt to the wound.

I think mental health is important

If you can’t control your mind, you’re legit fuked in life

I’m not sure they are going about treating mental health properly though
