I still don't know what a they/them pronoun is in regards to an individual. Think I would fail my elementary English class. Like do they not know what "they" are?

I think it’s technically correct to use they both for a group and for a third person who is not “myself” or “yourself” but I grant you it’s confusing especially to foreigners who assign genders even to random objects like cars or plates
