I was getting a roof replaced on one of my rental properties. Around lunch time the Mexican tradies would pull out a hot plate and turned my drive way into a Mexican restaurant. All was missing was Mexican sloots and a sombrero.

Surely tradies go to the gas station to goof off work, not just to buy things they actually need. They are drawn there like salmon returning up river to where they were spawned, or like moths to a flame. It's in their nature to return and nothing will keep them away.

Pretty much this. I don’t see this being very popular unless the company is small/ghetto. It was always nice going somewhere to get food and take an hour break after busting my ass all morning working.

I would say most tradies were persnickety about what they ate srs. At least where I worked

A few would like gas station food but most would turn their nose up at it.

I found it funny because I'm so much more educated than them. They'd talk about how I liked coke zero and always tell me chit and when I brought up the studies I know They'd shut their mouth

But They'd still stick to their guns even when I brought forth research that contradicted what they said.

The word "study" would trigger them

It was the same thing in trade school. They had this like false superiority

But agree with others, it seems like one of a tradies few joys in life are going to the gas station. It’s very primal - like hunting except the prey is jalapeño and cheese taquitos and instead of killing you are taking the last five taquitos so the other tradies are left with old reasty hot dogs.

Agreed, I can not eat a hot lunch if I'm sweaty in the least while at work. Give me a wrap or tuna or protein shake and banana and mixed nuts and I'm good to go.

The new tradie trend is the plug in lunch box. Put cold food in it in the morning and plug it in on the jobsite and when you are ready for it, open it up and steam is coing out.
