Your motivation for the day/week/year/life?
Saw this posted somewhere else and decided to pass it along.
G'Day Folks. I'm reading quite a bit here about emotional concerns, depression, and suicide. I hope my humble input can help some of you fine folks who are struggling.
After decades of working with people to help change their lives and heal/restore their health, I've never once observed a single instance where negative emotions "didn't" arise in the midst of nutritional changes at any level. In fact, a sure-fire indication that something is "taking effect" is that emotional disturbances -quite usually negative - arise. This is because your emotions AND body AND nervous system are wholly integrated, and as such, you can’t nor should seek to alter one component without impacting the others. I’ve also witnessed, time and again, where a “regime” or “substance” vitamin, food, pill, injection was blamed for “causing” emotional issues which can happen when, in effect, the regime or substances merely uncovered anxiety and depression already dwelling just beneath the surface. Whatever the “regime” emotional changes happen, to some degree, every single time. As such, you should expect, not be afraid of, and look to wholly embrace the emotional bumps along the way. The emotions are entirely normal.
Whether anxious, depressed, or ideally adjusted, regardless of what new "regime" you introduce into your life, “balance” must come into play. When you step things up in one area like diet, exercise, work, finances, mental conditioning, you must also work to bring all other aspects of your life into alignment with your new regime - i.e. giving your brain/mind/eyes a rest from thinking/working/looking at a screens/etc. when resting your body after an intense workout. To NOT align all other aspects of your life with your new regime in one area is to become like a train-engineer trying to move one car faster than all the others; something that simply cannot happen, at least, not without dreadful consequences.
Another thing to consider is, when introducing strength-building / performance-enhancing substances including optimal food into your body, you awaken and ignite the “warrior-within”. When this happens, expect that warrior to want to do more than just lift weights! The warrior-within wants to do what warriors do; hunt, gather, create, learn, discover, build, fight for something, and make life its b**ch! If you’ve awakened your warrior-within, then he/she’s gonna want to do a heck o’ lot more than just work out! If something more gratifying than working out is not offered, then yeah, emotions and inner conflict will be high, because YOU are living in a modern world with every possible luxury and convenience at your disposal, while your warrior-within is primed & ready-to-rock-its-own-world but has nothing to do or live for - hence suicidal thoughts.
Like it or not, you’ve GOT to seek to exhaust the warrior-within. This, before all else, will help balance those new emotions. Oh, this will also help settle/balance any heightened sex-drive that can often wreak havoc on otherwise good relationships. Because sexual energy is creative energy, that energy just needs to get spent “creatively”. If you’ve got all that extra sexual energy, don’t blame your spouse, and don’t throw away a perfectly good relationship over the lack of a mediocre lay. Just do what humans do best and are clearly DESIGNED to do: CREATE! Moreover, don’t mistake EXCITEMENT for “anxiety” or ANTICIPATION for “fear”. And don’t be scared of new emotions: OWN THEM! Excitement and Anticipation and Creation are the warrior’s way; thus, it must become YOUR way! Otherwise, what’s the whole point of awakening the slumbering warrior-within? Just for better muscles? Naaahhhh…
Clearly, this message does not apply to every single person struggling with depression. Where some folks just need to work on balance, and some need to provide high-energy “warrior-worthy” activity to appease their warrior-within, others indeed require counselling and medication. If you're experiencing suicidal thoughts, PLEASE seek immediate help. There’s nothing wrong with YOU, there’s a logical reason for it, and there are solutions to fix things. If, however, you're just emotional and or "moody", then that’s likely just the warrior-within trying to break free. If that’s the case, toss him/her the keys, give ‘em something more to do than just exercising, and let 'em blow the f’n roof off this magnificent experience that is your life!
I sincerely hope this helps those of you who are struggling emotionally.

Agreed that oftentimes a lot of mental/emotional health issues are created/amplified by a person not meeting their basic needs of exercise, adequate sleep, and sound nutrition.
I know for myself when I’m lacking motivation to lift, it’s usually because of a lack of sleep or **** nutrition.
I do think there is something to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and helping a person to feel motivated to take on life’s challenges.

Holocaust denial is illegal in over 18 countries. if an organized killing of jews happened so definitely, why would people need to serve prison sentences for questioning it?
