Handymen/homeowners- Advice regarding a leaky roof

Figured I'd ask here since it's been a but of a chitshow so far. This is my first roof related issue as a homeowner, and so far one repairman didn't show up and the other immediately started upselling/trying to get me to replace the whole section of the roof, when the roofs not nearly old enough to warrant that(believe it's somewhere between 5-10 years old), and the leak is clearly an isolated location. It is seemingly coming from an area where there's a little valley created where the second floor meets the arched roof of the living room.

There seem to be a lot of products available, ranging from gorilla tape to all kinds of sealants but not sure where to start- With the snow looming I just need to figure out at least a temporary/seasonal fix, be it actually applying something to the roof, or attempting to cover it.

It's currently night here but I'll snap a pic of the roof when its brighter and I've cleared the roof off since maybe a fix is obvious to the experienced eye.

you got to go in the attic and confirm where its coming from. i had some big leak coming into the garage but only on downpour rains. at first the lazy tradies just wanted to do some chit on the outside on the roof but i was like no lazy tradie you are going up in my attic and crawling around and confirming the leak location (it was still wet/just happened). do not let them just assume where its coming from, make them look up in there. now mine is fixed and doesnt leak anymore.

The thing is it's not an attic situation, there is the second floor part of the house, then there is the roof over the living room that conjoins with it like this ^- only imagine the - is another wide slanted roof. The leak is coming from around the area they meet.

Just silicone the **** out of it. Make sure it's uv stabilized.

Roofers got you by the balls unfortunately, you dont need a new roof but most will try to sell you one.

Contractors usually try to fleece you

With limited knowledge of the situation its probably a flashing issue, thats what is used in transitions on roofs. Idk good luck

Most roofers, or really sub-contractors in general, won’t do a patch job because it will absolutely fail in the future then they’ll be responsible for doing a half-assed job. So I understand his “upselling” you have to get to the root of the issue and maybe the valley the way it is created the issue. I dunno-just something to think about Op.
