The real reason that I've seen and heard was to reduce the risks of UTIs in young kids. I personally know of two people who's uncircumcised kids had to get them done around 12 years old due to repeated infections. You can teach them hygiene but there's a point where they're too old for you to supervise them in the shower and it can create issues. Ultimately this represents a small amount of scenarios but that's the biggest reason that's legit that I've seen. UTIs in little boys can cause a lot of issues.

Other reasons include aesthetics which is a stupid fukkin reason.

I've always heard that circumcision started among semitic tribes as a way of hygiene since they lived in arid, desert climates. But there are plenty of African and Aborigine tribes who lived in similar environments and they didn't practice circumcision.
