Has anyone wondered how new vaccine resistant variants form?

It's meant to happen in pockets of the unvaccinated, but the "virus" must be pretty clever to figure out ways around the vaccine's "immunity" with no reference point. There would be no advantage in it developing these methods in someone who is unvaccinated anyway.

Meanwhile antibiotic-resistant bacteria are well known to be caused by the overuse of antibiotics.

Or perhaps the new variant is an excuse for covid outbreaks despite these miracle vaccines.
