red dead 2 was great. i was just mad that they kept making you on the run after the thwarted bank robbery

i thought it would have been great to switch directions

was a little repetitive from that point

Dark Souls


It is a complete package. So many game mechanics spawned off of it and the industry copied them. It was a complete game out of the box i.e. didn't require dlc despite getting some. Despite it being mostly single player, people still play it. 10 years after it has released.

RDR II was definitely up there. One of the greatest stories I've ever seen unfold, a true masterpiece.
Redemption I has superior aspects to it - it was definitely a funner game. The soundtrack was 1,000,000x better than RDR II, as well. It had much funner gunplay.

Both of those games are masterpieces, for sure.

Also strong disagree on RDR2. Story was very poor, insanely predictable with dislikeable characters and Abigail's decision making at the end flat out didn't make sense. Gameplay was boring, 50% of the game was riding the horse and forcing you to walk slow AF through the camps was obnoxious. You got punished more or less with bad karma in the game if you actually tried to have fun lol.

Edit: Also Witcher 3 is my srs answer.

Not some 500 million budget AAA game but I thought it was executed perfectly and easily one of my favorite games from the last few gens.

I dunno how gamers cannot love Witcher III. I warrant that it starts off slow and you need to give it time, but once you get the hang of your abilities and the game dynamics...it is addictive as phuck.

I would forward Mass Effect (2007) as the most well made game of the past 15 years. Skyrim is amazing, but too many glitches for it to fulfil this specific criteria. Mass Effect was and is pretty much the perfect sci-fi RPG. The music, mission variety, cut-scenes, side missions, team-mates. Bioware did themselves proud with this game.

This.

Dark Souls is so fukin’ good that it rejuvenated my joy of gaming. It brought back the same feels I had as a kid when playing a really good game, feels I thought I was no longer capable of.

Some (many?) gamers are sensitive to how a game feels, and Witcher 3 feels like garbage. It’s interesting that you also mention Mass Effect, because that’s another game with pretty poor feel.
