Advice for a burn from an oven

Bottom of my forearm hit the rack and I didn’t think it was gunna leave a burn. This morning it’s not looking so good and tore open a little at some point. It’s like 2.5 inches long. It not that bad though, didn’t hurt enough to really notice when I did it.

I disinfected it and neosporin

Might use Rentin-a when it heals for the scar


Any other home remedies? Or over the counter?

That's a second degree burn; protocol is a cold compress every few hours & lidocaine OTC topical spray to relieve pain

If you have vinegar that will work too

I have this stuff I think I’m going to try on it. It’s burn cream. I have it from when my turtles got shell rot. They are all better now. It doesn’t hurt so lidocaine isn’t needed.

I’m debating covering it with a bandaid or letting it dry out

Put aloe vera gel on it. Will moisturise and reduce the sting.

Codeine and scotch also removes the sting but it's not really a treatment, I just like having an excuse.

That cream with help prevent infection. Keep it covered when you are at the gym or active.

Was going to say too bad you don’t have silvadene cuz it’s prescription.

Cover it with the silvadene and keep bandage over it, it can help prevent it from healing discolored and dark. Not really a bad burn tho I normally ignore them but I have like 10 on my arms at all times normally.

I have like 4 oven burns all over my forearms from 5+ years ago and they've faded over time but I don't anticipate them to disappear. Plus, I don't really care.

I had more as a sous chef or line cook. I have less as a restaurant owner.

Only had to deal with a 3rd degree one time. Therapy for tendons in fingers sucks.

Most 2nd degrees take care of themselves as long as infection/healing is ok

This. Or silver chloride gel which is available otc. And keep it covered with a waterproof bandage.
