Rich man/poor man lunch. Rate it. [PIC]

My lunch today. Prime rib and ramen.

What a perfect illustration that your enjoyment of thigs does not come from what they cost!

Disagree 100% with this. I would not call us growing up poor. But dad was an electrician. We ate pasta twice a week. About once a month we might have a steak night and never went out to resturants.

I can afford to eat whatever I choose. I have over time gained a taste for very good quality meats cooked rare of course. In my household, the meats were such crappy cuts you had to overcook them to make the fall apart. I also like very good quality tuna raw...etc. I eat NOTHING like what I grew up eating. That said, I still like ramen and chicken nuggets.

I think the bigger picture is the idea that cost does not equal enjoyment. The millennial illustration would have been, I could have eaten that off the wing of my lambo. (or the wing on my lotus). Or I can eat it off the hood of my KIA. None of that matters. I like the ramen as much as the prime rib.

Just leftovers. I like it more rare, but I had to cook a 12lb in a rush so the outer cap is done more than I would normally have done. But the cut was excellent. Very enjoyable. Fine marbling and very tender etc. But could have been more rare for sure

Since I work from home, ramen is had a few times a week. My lunches are just combos of fats, pro, and carbs. Whatever protein left overs we might have or I might cook. Ramens are nice since they are an easy 60g of carbs.

I throw out packet and use better than bullion flavoring and balance out sodium with 'no salt' potassium chloride. Cmoore taught me a long time ago to balance sodium and potassium for zero bloat. Miss that guy!

Hope you are well!

Looks like some weird poverty roast that’s sat under the buffet lights for an hour. What a waste of meat.
