Reminder: if you are paying a mortgage, you dont "own the house"
Edit:
Cant believe all these people who don’t own homes are getting defensive and lashing out at rentcels lol, it’s hilarious
Shows their cope
Listen, if you are under your dark cloud of 500k debt and will be kicked out if you miss a few payments, then you dont own the home
Neither mortgagecels nor rentcels are homeowners

When I decide to leave my current residence, I will walk away with over $100k.
When you decide to leave your residence, you will walk away with nothing.
Keep paying your landlord's mortgage and helping him build generational wealth for his family while you fail to do the same.

coping rentcels always say 'b-but it's cheaper to rent, you gotta pay to maintain your property!' lol my parents have gained ~$600k over the last 9 years in their house, I can tell you they haven't spent anywhere near $600k in maintenance/repairs.

It is way better to own than pay someone else more than the mortgage.

you own the equity. whether that equity is 5% or 100% of overall value of the house you still OWN THE EQUITY.
don't cope because you can't afford to buy a house homie.

Home owners also pay about double the cost of the home over time in property taxes and interest. So when you have a $500k house free and clear you actually probably paid about $1 million to own it.
What home owners don't want to hear is that if you rent and invest the difference versus buying outright (especially in today's market) after twenty years it's about break even in terms of assets at the end of that time. Obviously with people who buy and rent out as landlords then it's a whole different story and it depends on the city. Right now in my city it makes zero financial sense to overpay to buy instead of renting.

yeah you do
smh
you own the house, but the bank uses it as collateral.
you still own it. thats why you can own many houses, make money off appreciation, cashflow, etc, and do with them as you please.
the house is yours and your loan is secured by the house.
fukkin rentcels i swear.

LMAO rentcels are so petty. I bet i own all the equity in the home dummy. Read rich dad poor dad. If you own your house, you're a fool. Use OPM (other peoples money) to acquire assets. Buy yourself a house, then buy some rentals and deduct the interest on said rentals as a business expense. Mortgage rates are literally the lowest ever right now. Rents go up with inflation. As far as property taxes go, live in an area where the property tax is low. If you're renting, charge enough to more than cover all expenses. It's not that hard. My mortgage is fixed and in this climate, is the only surefire way to stabilize your cost of living. Rentcels are literally the lowest rung on the ladder.
