Quickest way to be fluent in a new language?

Tired of being an English-cel

People always assume I can speak Spanish, I even know basic words and phrases but I can’t speak it


What’s the quickest way to learn a new language?
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Duolingo is great, 100% srs. Just go to stay consistent and do all the levels. Start with 30 min a day for some weeks

Take classes and talk to people.

Watch movies/shows, listen to music, read books, etc.

When I was in Iraq I began studying Arabic (Arabic for Dummies is how I started). Once the locals I worked with realized I was actually trying to learn the language, they started bringing me kids toys.

Just little things we give our kids to entertain them and hope they end up learning on the way. I mean, it is pretty silly to play with kids toys, but man I learned the alphabet in about two days.

You just have to put the time in man. Every single thing you can do in the other language, do it.

This. Immersion is the best way. When my mom was teaching ESL, she would get so frustrated with her students that wouldn't bother to use it outside of class, which meant that they never learned it.
I mean, it is pretty silly to play with kids toys, but man I learned the alphabet in about two days.

Immersion is the best if like physical immersion or moving to a place where noone speaks english but that's usually not feasible for most people so you CAN do the next best thing which is a mimicry of immersion and immerse yourself into spanish music, movies(use spanish subtitles for movies), go to mexican restaurants, talk to hispanic people

I slowly and arduously learned spanish and can now converse 100 percent and understand about 85 percent of what is said even when they speak fast in all dialects. Took me close to a decade to obtain that but it's just like working out. It's a skill that requires discipline and hard work to acquire.

Try it again. It's not the most fun way, but it def. helps. I have gotten a pretty good basic understanding of the french grammar and language now.

Nothing beats actually learning it through some class/school/IRL meetings. Or even better, actually live or stay in a place where the language you want to learn, is the primary language

Duolingo is IMO a great way to learn all the basics of a language without putting hours in it every day. After you feel confident, you are easier off when you for example take it to another level, like finding some private teacher either irl or through video calls

I met a real estate guy who said he met a girl on a trip to Cancun who ended up being his wife but initially neither could speak each other’s language but they really liked each other so he was motivated to learn.

He told me he learned by listening to a song in Spanish like 40 times and trying to sing and understand the words

I was forced to learn spanish from elementary to highschool

can understand 99% of written Spanish. 60% spoken at irl native pace. 80% slowed down



romance languages are the easiest to learn ex. Italian, portugese, Spanish, latin

Forget Rosetta Stone, and all those language lessons.

In order to learn a new language quickly you have to be around people that speak the language, and force yourself to start talking to them in that language.

This is how I learned Swahili that is spoken in Kenya. I'm here right now. Das it Mane. Sloots here be mirin my Swahili speaking skills.

He learned Spanish mainly by listening to a song in Spanish like 40 times (a day?)? Did that Spanish song last about 20 hours?

Like mentioned above, tv and books and talking to people. Also the kids toys! The little one has lots of bilingual toys and I’ve picked up a lot more listening to them over and over and over and over…..
Watching kids learning shows is also good.

I personally started learning in high school while I was working fast food. The cook didn’t speak English, so I learned food items in Spanish. The area I lived in was also predominantly Hispanic, so a lot of people spoke Spanish as a first language. I’d ask them to talk to me in Spanish.

Now I’m telling TheNoob7 to quit being a ****göt and start really teaching the little one Spanish now that she’s talking. She knows all her colors in Spanish and various body parts in Spanish. Makes his mom’s heart melt lol.

Stick with it and every day try to learn a new word. I think it’s fun. I learn something new all the time. Like how we have one word for an orange you eat, and the color orange. Where as in Spanish there are two separate words.

Quickest way is to move to that country srs. Or surround urself with people speaking that language. And like anything else just keep practicing and with time ull learn it.
